Throughout his rise to fame, Pacquiao never forgot his humble beginnings as an impoverished child in Asia. His newest housing project is not the first time he's given back to the poor. Just last year he built one thousand homes for poor Filipinos.

The historic fight, which will be among the biggest ever staged on Australian soil, looked set to be confirmed for Suncorp Stadium — until a couple of puzzling tweets from Pacquiao surfaced. The first one said simply, “see you in UAE for my next fight” alongside a picture of a closed fist in the colours of the United Arab Emirates.

If that wasn’t worrying enough for Horn, his camp and a voracious Australian boxing public, then Pacquiao’s next tweet was even more concerning.

It asked for fans to vote on who the Pacman’s next opponent should be in the UAE, with Amir Khan a clear winner with nearly 50 percent of the nearly 45,000 votes, followed by fellow Brit Kell Brook and with Horn a clear last with only 7 per cent of the total.

“Someone’s come out when they shouldn’t have and has announced 100 percent that the fight is somewhere else,” Horn told Fox Sports News 500. “It’s a bit of a shock for all of us to go, ‘Hold on a second. We had the fight planned for here.’ As far as I know the fight is still in Brisbane and hopefully we’ll find out in the next few days what’s happening. 'I'll fight him on the moon'

Horn’s manager, Glenn Rushton, is dubious the UAE could stage a fight of this magnitude. “Anything else is just purely speculation and we’ve all heard talk about big fights coming out of Dubai for years and I’ve never seen one yet, so I have to simply say it like you that it’s simply speculation. Let’s wait until Bob Arum speaks,” he said.

Horn was clear he would be willing to trade blows with Pacquiao anywhere. “I’ll fight him on the moon if I have to,” Horn said. “It doesn’t bother me but it would be beyond a dream come true if I do get it in Brisbane or Australia.”

As for the poll of desired opponents, in which he came last, Horn was realistic about the motivation behind it.
Sorry, this video is not available in your region

“It’s just promotion for him,” Horn said. They’re chucking my name in everywhere at the moment. It’s agreed that I’m fighting Pacquiao, that’s what I know. I’m sure he knows the same but he’s just building publicity, I guess.

“It makes me feel good that Duco are fighting hard for it to be held here. I want it to be here and I know Pacquiao wanted to fight in Brisbane, or in Australia at least. I know there’s still going to be a strong push to get it here and I’m hoping it gets over the line.”

Manny Pacquiao and the Bible

Inasmuch as many of us are irritated at Manny Pacquiao for using the Bible in the Senate, the reality is that he is not the enemy here

He has been criticized tremendously but Manny Pacquiao does not back down. That's what happens when you have a religious individual with the tenacity of an athlete joining the Senate.

Many people might not want Manny in the Senate. But here's the incontrovertible truth: he won a seat and he represents the conservative worldview of many Filipinos. He has been criticized for his statements on homosexuality, Jennifer Laude, cross-dressing, and the death penalty.

But he presses on, precisely because Manny Pacquiao's statements resonate with the conservative worldview of many Filipinos. That worldview, however, is implicit and that is what makes it more treacherous.
