This is a very interesting statement, that was incorporated in the said article of a boxing fan/writer. Perhaps a "ringtone" of truth that is being played by many of Pacquiao's fans. Alas, the noises of politics and sycophants being simultaneously played are far far louder.

Quote:
What ring tone of a clock could be effective enough to awaken Pacquiao from slumber to see the morning light? Who would be the frank, honest and influential ally to make him believe that the stubbornly ambitious road he is treading in politics or “politics” is no road to do him and his legacy good except the suckers that roam around the jungles, the vultures that glide in polluted heavens and the sharks that lurk in shallow waters of corrupt politics?

Success can be subtly disastrous if one ends up being surrounded by people who say only what tickles his ears. Will someone be truly concerned and tell Pacquiao what sycophants won’t dare think of telling him? But listen to no man who does not listen to God.

Pacquiao is greedy with Power. He will do anything to retain it.

Pacquiao is the one feeding the beast so he only has to blame
himself. Hangers-on are there since Pacquiao himself promotes
incentivized cooperation.

Kung walang kahoy, walang anay.

It's egomaniacal to surround yourself with people who will only
bootlick. It's much too ambitious to think that his ring victories
will translate to his success in the political arena.

Most of us wont be able to understand the thinking of our idol these past few years. Many of us were bewildered why he opted to throw himself into the messy political mix, when he can just stay focus on the sport that made him rich and famous and retire with dignity intact. But everyone of us is not manny pacquiao. No one of us has put on his shoes and see the things on his point of view. All of us care about his boxing legacy. We wanted him to be the best boxer of his generation undisputedly. But does he want that? For sure it will make all of us happy but it seems we do not share the same level of happiness with our idol. Manny Pacquiao is finding his path to 'self-actualization' at the moment, while his fans is only at the level of 'esteem' in the hierarchy of needs. We will never understand his actions and decisions toward his life and career because we are in different level of 'needs'.

Give him a break. Let the man find his self-worth and personal happiness.

He should have done that after retiring from boxing.
Pac took a lot of bad advice from his pulitiko friends.
Sadly, he is a status climber as well.
Kinda sucks being known as a boxer who does showbiz gig I guess.
Being a politician carries more status I guess.
Politics has cost him more money than it has earned him.

Pac's boxing career was messed-up by politics.
Now, he's in too deep in politics to just quit it and concentrate on boxing.

You can do so many things well. but you can only do one thing great.

people are drive with motive in striving something. it seemed that our manny is already satisfied with what he achieved in boxing and now he is longing for a bigger calling. no matter how good his advisers are when his heart and mind are no longer in the sport, there's nothing more anyone can do. i dont think that the 'status' thingy is the reason why he joined politics because he is already bigger than any pinoy politicians (including the president) in terms of popularity and acceptance by his people. maybe he really wanted to help his less fortunate countrymen.

Holy Smokes! No wonder pinoys are voting trapos, actors and actresses. This logic that i highlighted above shows it all.
Greed is justified because he paid for it by getting beat up in the ring. LOL Pac can be greedy and secure his family's future
as a politician at the expense of the taxpayers?

Why make it so complicated when the answer to this question is so simple. Manny is not as intelligent as what his fans are trying to portray him to be.
He is a puppet of his promoter which on the contrary Manny was the one who saved TR from the new rising GBP the past few years from becoming obsolete.
He got swayed into joining politics by his so called friends. The notorious Chavit Singson is his friend duh. Joined politics not as a governor or mayor to serve his
kababayan, but as a Congressman! Manny really believes that he can be a good lawmaker. He was used by the Catholic church for voting
against the RH bill. He got swayed by the fundamentalist Christians or religious groups and spent a lot of his time with them at the peak of training.
He is singing and recording songs thinking that his voice is so good to hear because he always hear praises from his fans. What the heck, he can do everything
and people can be very forgiving because he is their idol. Manny is like a small child who got spoiled by his fans. He is now a brat and think he can do
everything and get anything he wants.

Ah, Politics. Love it or hate it. There's nothing in between. A couple of humorous quotes about politics:

"Politics are like diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason." Mark Twain

"Everything is changing. People are taking their comedians seriously and their politicians as a joke." Will Rogers

"Politics, noun. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage." Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary.

"Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." Ronald Reagan.

As to why Pacquiao (the boxer) chose to become a politician:

"Simple. Boxing and politics, both are in the same business of hurting people." Yours truly.
