Manny Pacquiao Lost $100 Million By Not Fighting Floyd Mayweather
Mike Ozanian, Forbes Staff

A few years back Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao were negotiating terms of a fight that would could have been the most lucrative boxing match of all time. It never happened because Pacquiao would not agree to Olympic-style drug testing.

Pacquiao’s decision cost him dearly.

Showtime Networks announced Thursday that the previous Saturday’s fight between Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez generated a record $150 million in pay-per-view revenue, breaking the record of $136 million for Mayweather’s 2007 fight against Oscar De La Hoya. The Mayweather-Canelo fight at the MGM Grand Arena also set a record for largest gate for a boxing match at ($20 million) and and Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, says the fight will exceed $200 million in total revenue when all revenue streams are counted.

Three years ago the split between Mayweather and Pacquiao would have been roughly 50-50 for a fight that would have grossed an estimated $200 million to $250 million.

Since then, Mayweather has remained undefeated by beating Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz with a controversial knockout, Miguel Cotto, Robert Guerrero, and Alvarez. Meanwhile, Pacquiao defeated Jaun Manuel Marquez, but then lost to Timothy Bradley in a controversial decision, and got knocked out in his rematch with Marquez.

Pacquiao has never come close to earning what he could have made fighting Mayweather. His biggest payday: $25 million for his last Marquez bout. And Pacquiao’s brand has taken a hit with his recent losses. He is guaranteed to earn just $18 million from his next fight in November against Brandon Rios.

There have been some recent rumblings again recently, like there were in 2012, of Mayweather fighting Pacquiao. Mayweather recently told the Wall Street Journal he would consider such a bout if Pacquiao signed a promotions contract with Mayweather’s company. Who knows? What we do know is Pacquiao has already lost out on one $100 million payday.

Wrong move by Manny and his team ever! Pacman will never get that opportunity again.
Hahahaha!

I've always said it... If there's someone who didn't want this fight it is Bob Arum. If the purse split was supposedly 50/50, it would have exposed the discrepancy between Mayweather and Pacquiao. Imagine Mayweather pocketing $100 mil and Pacquiao much less because of all the Top Rank cuts. Arum would have been exposed on how much he has been fleecing Pacquiao. The smartest business-minded boxers of our era, ODLH and PBF, both left Top Rank when they realized Arum has been scamming them.

Pacquiao just announced he just made $28 mil in 5 fights, including the ODLH, Hatton and Cotto fights. Really? That's it?

Arum is the one preventing this fight.

a bunch of lunatic pacq haters including the writer on the loose here...who probably thinks he is a mathematician but can not even comprehend a simple arithmetic. writer does not have a brain for putting a title like this...a nerd. let us figure out here who is a bigger loser, Pacq or Mayw. pacq lost $100 million for not fighting mayw? so, if you pachaters or, floydiots as they rightfully call you people know 1+1=2, what do you think mayw also lost for not fighting pacq? $200 million?..Mayw is the biggest loser here. GO FIGURE!!! what a bunch of brain dead zombies on the loose here..... :chainsaw: :smoke: :gun: :headz:

There are two fighters in a boxing match. If Pac lost $100 million, Floyd would have lost even more. How can Pac lose so much anf Floyd not lose anything? Mike Ozanian and the TS are as stupid as can be.

have you forgotten already? the fraud was offering him a 40 million dollar flat fee, no PPV shares, no nothing, just the 40 million dollars. 39.6 % of which will go to Las Vegas taxes (roughly 16 million dollars), 10 percent will go to freddie roach for his trainer's fee (roughly 4 million USD), some percentage will go to Philippine taxes, some will go to his leeches, and another percentage will go to TOPRANK for their promoter's fee. Leaving manny roughly 10 million USD. In Macau Manny is guaranteed 18 million USD plus PPV shares. with a smaller 12 percent tax in Macau he will have a higher net earning compared to a Floyd fight with a flat fee.

So now, you know why manny doesn't want a flat fee of 40 million. and no, manny didn't lose 100 million because he wasn't offered it because the Fraud intended to pocket everything.
