I don't think the RING Magazine would stake the RING title on this bout....firstly, they do believe that Shane Mosley and not Miguel Cotto is the rightful lineal champion for the division....second and the most compelling reason why it won't be staked is that the RING Magazine is owned by Golden Boy Promotions thus it would make them look stup1ds if they consider the fight for the RING belt considering they labeled the PBF-Marquez welterweight bout as Number 1 vs. Numero Uno.....

i agree that the ring belt will not be at stake but not because it was owned by the golden boy but because they have rules with regards to awarding it. when pbf retired it was declared vacant. based on their existing rules the number 1 contender (mosley) and the number 2 contender (cotto) should face each other for the belt to be awarded.

now one may say that they are biased in placing mosley as number 1 but he got it by beating margarito who beat cotto (although a controversial one). so you see the golden boy not just placed mosley there, the guy earned it.

seriously should he win against cotto, pacman becomes the number 2 ranked ring welterwt. if he will fight mosley next year it will be for 3 belts: the wba, wbo and the ring magazine belt. boxing experts may also agree that this is for the lineal title!

this is somehow intriguing....why? check the following:

- the last bout of Pacman prior to Hatton was against ODLH.....question, which division did Pacquiao ended up after the Dela Hoya bout? it was a Welterweight bout, right? so logically, Pacquiao should be ranked within the Welterweight division? right?

- when Pacman kayoed Hatton, he was installed as the RING Magazine's Jr. Welterweight champ, right? How come? If we'll follow the RING's rules, the Hatton vs. Pacquiao fight shouldn't have been a fight for the RING belt since Pacman isn't anywhere near the #1 contender for the RING's Jr. Welterweight class, right? then why did the RING ended up awarded the RING title to Pacman for the Jr. Welterweight class?

My above illustration shows that the RING's panel of experts, can change the rules if they wanted to disregarding business biases...what I fail to understand is why Cotto has been ranked lower by RING Magazine than the man he has beaten which is Mosley? The least that they should have done was to rank Cotto and Mosley tied at #1 given the two wins Cotto has chalked up after the Margarito defeat.....

so you still think that the RING magazine is unbiased?

But still it can be contest who gonna be the rightful recipients of Ring belt since Cotto defeated Shane, It's still the Ring's option if they want to award it to Manny as being the #1 PfP if ever he prevailed! :)

are you referring to Cotto-Pacquiao fight? If yes then sorry to disappoint you bro but it will not happen because

1. It will not satisfy The Ring Championship policy.
2. Manny is not rated as welterweight by the Ring

bro i think you're just a little bit confused as to their rules. the ring follows the principle of lineage (the champion is the man who beats the man). hatton was the lineal jr welterwt champ so when manny defeated him, he (manny) became the ring magazine jr welterwt champ.

with regards to ranking on the other hand the only purpose of these is when a title become vacant (either the champion retires or moves up in weight). the number 1 and the number 2 ranked fights for the ring belt. so these in essence does not apply to the pacman vs hatton bout.

when cotto defeated mosley i can assume that mosley is not the no. 2 ranked contender at that time. could be williams, baldomir, margarito, cintron, clottey etc it's really hard to tell. besides it is highly probable that the ring at that time still has mayweather as the ring champion. remember that dela hoya vs mayweather rematch was suppose to happen september that year until mayweather decided to retire.

the ring gave their belt to manny when he defeated marquez at their superfeatherwt fight inspite the fact that nobody in their organization believes manny really won.

the welterwt ring belt is currently vacant. they can easily give it to mosley who is their business partner but they did not.

still think the ring magazine is biased?

good point....so it means that if for example, a lightweight boxer defeated a junior welterweight RING champ yet still want to remain a lightweight after the fight, he'll still be the RING's Jr. Welter titlist?

pure assumptions....unless we have the facts, it proves nothing....agreed?

Really, then why did ODLH fought Manny after that great Marquez rematch? Isn't it an implied acknowledgement that Pacman is the MAN right now?

good point but don't you think it would further diminish their already tainted credibility?
