That's not an excuse for poor writing.

Dapat laging e-review yong mga isinusulat for these lapses. Dapat hindi rin nakalusot ito sa mga proofreaders and editors.

ei yo geniuses, theres such a word as 'illusive.'

illusive Adj. Illusory. based on or having the nature of an illusion.

check before you comment

There might be such a word but I am sure it did not fit in the context that it was used.

I believe the author actually meant, "elusive". As in "Elusive Dreams".

Pacquiao too illusive, if not magical, for a “Jet-weight Cotto”
By Granville Ampong

Quote:
Well, as I watched the game, I thought I can somehow impart to Cotto some wisdom from the hockey rink. Cotto can only focus on what he can control as much as what the Los Angeles Kings attempted to do. I think Pacquiao’s speed and illusiveness might be too much for Cotto, unless he starts using now an eye-patch alternatively to either eye during his training sessions - which, of course, neither the Cayotes nor the Los Angeles ever did - to improve his peripheral vision and to control his range and angular dimensions. That, I insist it can help him evade some whistling discharges of Pacquiao’s left and right crosses.

Does Pac employ magical illusion also? 8) :) :D

Yes. He also hires his close relatives to work for his various businesses.

i think that was meant to catch your attention.

Yes, precisely. But only in the writer's glaring wrong choice of word(s) and his, apparently, limited vocabulary.

It is "elusive" then.

well, i respect one's view, elusive or illusive will do...as one prefers..

yet for me the writer indeed refers to the word illusive as he too put in such word "magical"...illusive as he contours or compares to pacquiao speed as magic just like that of a magical illusion "now you see him (pacquiao) now you dont".... and or "the hand is much faster than the eye"

writer takes pacquiao speed against cotto to a much higher degree referring it to magic ...manny's speed for the writer is too much for cotto's eye to see that as the writer says cotto need to patch his eye alternatively to have a more clearer view where pacquio be coming in and out or magically saying "where manny be appearing and disappearing"...and whistle out his left and right crosses

plain elusive for the writer may only be, as mean above, just like that of difficult catch or even find...yet still is not difficult to see.

I still believe that the writer made the wrong choice of word. Even a creative or literary writer (which I think, the writer is not) would not use "illusive" for "magical" effect in that context.

Creating an illusion or deception is the farthest thing from his mind. Pumalpak lang talaga sya sa pagamit ng tamang word.

In the boxing ring, you can do only so much. I think it was George Foreman who said, "You can run but you can't hide". Now, do you think creating an illusion or deception is easier than running or eluding?

Why resurrect Ampong? He disgraced himself as a "sports journalist" by adding words to what Pacquiao actually said. One of the mortal sins of reporting and journalism. He committed a mortal sin and was sent down to the minors, the Tabloid reporting.

"You can run but you can't hide," has been attributed to Joe Louis.
