Baguio will be the place once again for the PaCman training in preparation for his fight against Margarito

Roach thinks Pacman will devote himself solely to boxing once they set up camp in the rarefied mountain air of Baguio.

The reigning WBO welterweight champion will start training September 20 with his trainer Freddie Roach who is flying to Manila shortly to prepare for Pacquiao's rigorous training.

Margarito easy target like Hoya, says Roach

Antonio Margarito, to Freddie Roach, is a 5-foot-11 Mexican statue.

The celebrated trainer of Manny Pacquiao said Margarito is more hittable than Oscar dela Hoya, who quit on his stool after a terrible eight-round beating from the fighting congressman from the Philippines.

In the days leading to the Dela Hoya fight, late in 2008, Roach said Dela Hoya won’t last nine rounds, and he didn’t.

Now, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Roach thinks Margarito would go home earlier on Nov. 13 in Arlington, Texas.

Dela Hoya, like Margarito, is just a shade under six feet. But he thinks the 32-year-old Mexican is an easier target.

“This guy is much more hittable (than Dela Hoya) and likes to exchange a lot more,” said Roach of Margarito, once the most feared welterweight who got caught with illegal plaster in his hand wraps last year.

as mentioned by master Freddie Roach Baguio will be the first leg of training camp for PaCman then WCG the final leg...

I hope no changes bro.krayz... :)

but like the previous camp in Baguio security is tight and no visitors allowed...

you might catch him doing his road work if you are lucky :)

Hopefully he'll train there but how will this work with his sessions in congress? Are there any conflicts of schedule?

I think it would be much better if he trains in WCG all the way. Too many distractions here. :?

Roach wants Baguio, no place else for Pacman

Freddie Roach likes Baguio as training ground for Manny Pacquiao.

The reason is simple. There are just far fewer distractions up in the City of Pines.

“Not so many distractions, and there are too many in Manila,” said the four-time Trainer of the Year, who’s flying in next week to supervise Pacquiao’s training for the Nov. 13 fight with Antonio Margarito in Texas.

Roach had seen the difference when Pacquiao trained in Manila, for the Oscar Larios fight a couple of years back, or in Cebu, for the Marco Antonio Barrera rematch in 2007, and Baguio for Miguel Cotto last year.

Pacquiao prefers to train in Metro Manila so he could continue to perform his duties as a congressman. The problem is that they can’t seem to find an uphill terrain for his morning runs.

And besides, House Speaker Sonny Belmonte had already said that Pacquiao should be excused from his duties as a lawmaker as he trains “because he’s doing the country a favor” as a fighter.

It looks like it’s going to be Baguio for the training that starts on Sept. 20.

Pacman laughs off Floyd barb

It was a low blow delivered by the man who claims to be the best in the sport.

Freddie Roach took the cudgels for Manny Pacquiao who took a nasty verbal tirade from Floyd Mayweather Jr. a couple of days ago, saying it was “a really cheap low blow” and that people should “consider where it came from.”

Mayweather, the undefeated American who thinks he has all the money in the world, and refuses to fight Pacquiao, went beyond the the borders of professionalism when he called Pacquiao a “Pooch-ee-ow,” someone “who can’t speak no English.”

Mayweather also said Pacquiao “hasn’t seen a contract he didn’t like.”

Then he apologized for everything he said, for his words that were plastered all over the Internet the other day. Whether he was sincere with his apology, many people doubted.

“The only thing I want to say is, anybody who was offended by what I said the other day, I apologize as a man. I apologize. Forgive me for saying what I said. I was just having fun,” said Mayweather.

“I didn’t really mean it, nothing in a bad way. So let’s stay on this roller coaster ride and keep riding, baby. It’s all love.”

Pacquiao, who was on a press tour when he heard all about Mayweather’s flurry, yesterday thanked the flamboyant fighter for helping promote his upcoming fight with Antonio Margarito in Arlington, Texas
.

“I’m happy that even Floyd Mayweather is helping in the publicity of my next fight,” said Pacquiao.
