if he wins the title shot and defends it 3 or 4 times via KO, then maybe. :)

When he becomes a world champion and is trained by somebody like Freddie Roach... that's when he becomes the real deal! 8)

I wish him all the best, I mean, as a Filipino boxing fan, I really wish that there'll be someone to fill in the void after Manny Pacquiao retires. Am I hoping it will be Francisco? Sure. But Francisco hasn't even won a world title (but now he's earned a title SHOT, thank God), he's got less than 20 fights under his sleeve, hasn't faced and beaten any of the legit stars of the super flyweights and his experience is not yet that ripe. So that's my reason. Let us not judge him at this time as the "real deal". Maybe in time, but not yet.

IMO, let's not jinx it shall we? We always brand someone to be the next Philippine boxing hero too early, and look what happened to those we did brand to be: Bautista, Banal, Viloria.

Now, let's look at those we pay less attention to: Concepcion, Casimero, Nietes, Mayol.

See the trend? Those we pay attention to have become more successful than the ones we pay more attention to. Heck, Manny Pacquiao got his big break in his 41st fight (record at that time before the fight was 37-2-1), and that was against Barrera.

All in all, I am hoping Francisco will be the real deal. Like I said, maybe in the near future, BUT NOT YET. :)

No he's not the "real deal" because he hasn't done anything of note to warrant
such a label. He's got power though..

better not confuse "REALITY" with opinion, your opinion. not everyone thinks the same way you do.

i am one of those who believes francisco is skilled enough to break into the champion ranks, if not in the near future then maybe about in a span of 3 years, given the opportunities. you are obviously lingering on his vazquez fight where he showed more antics than skills, but dig deeper into his fights and you'd see he's got more to offer than letting his guards down and stinging that superman punch. 8)

He has the talent because he is unorthodox like Manny Pacquiao. To the opponent who cannot read his style it makes him the real deal. Let us wish him the best that he wins against all advesities.

With a win against a fighter with a record of 118-2 as an amateur and (now) 18-2 as a pro, he definitely has goods to make it far. However, it's too early to tell if he is indeed the real deal. Let's wait 'til he starts beating world champs.
