To my fellow Paclanders,

Hugo Cazares To Vacate WBA Title? Eyes Bantamweight

Posted by: Jhonny Gonzalez on 1/11/2011 .
Link: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=34634

The manager of WBA interim-super flyweight champion Drian Francisco, Elmer Anuran, says the WBA informed him that full champion Hugo Cazares is planning to vacate his title. Anuran was told Cazares is going to make a move to the lucrative bantamweight division. If Cazares goes through with this plan, then Francisco Would BeCome the FULL Champion at 115-pounds. Francisco is the Mandatory Challenger to Cazares' Title.

“It looks like Cazares is evading Drian. Our friends from the WBA have told us that Cazares will Relinquish His Title and Move Up to the Bantamweight division," Anuran said to GMA News. “There’s nothing on paper yet, but they’ve told us that Drian Can Be named as the WBA’s World Super Flyweight Champion As Early As Next Week."

“It’s an unfortunate turn of events because Drian was looking forward to facing Cazares, but the silver lining is that Drian Will Be PROMOTED from an Interim champion to a Regular World Champion."

Congrats to Drian then.. Hope his management could capitalize on this opportunity to showcase Drian's true worth as an athlete. Drian himself must prove to the organization that he's a true champion on his own. :hat:

+I'm really hoping that Drian Francisco will fight the newly IBF 115lbs world champion Cristian Mijares for a Unification fight.

drian should be thankful that he will be elevated as a regular champion. at least his tag is no longer an interim champ. if he will fight cazares, he has slim chance of winning. cazares has a knockout power plus a very crafty boxer. i am not under estimating drian's boxing skills but it's quiet obvious cazares is way above him technically. as for mijares, it's 50-50 chance for him if ever the 2 meet in the ring. mijares is not a known puncher so drian has a punchers chance of winning against him.

+Drian is the current WBA 115lbs InTerim champion, the title belt of which Donaire jr had before.

Drian is the WBA Interim Champion. He'll be elevated to regular champion if Cazares happens to relinquish his title. He'll be WBA Champion by default same with David Diaz when Casamayor was stripped with his WBC Lightweight Title.

+That's very true bro, same as the case of S.Martinez WBC 154lbs 'InTerim' champion until the late V.Forrest(rip) was stripped.

Cazares a crafty fighter? I can't believe you said that, all the guy has is power. Drian would box him all night, just like What Ivan Calderon did. Yes, you have undersestimated Drian and overated Hugo's Cazares. hehe
