Like Barcelona Football Club, they created a basketball team with the same owners, fan base and color of uniform..( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpbIrhePirw )
I have an idea, how about a team in PBA create a team in Football to make a commercialized professional football league for filipinos.. Like San Miguel Beer United,.... or Ginebra FC... just a thought.. 8)

I see basketball in the Philippines is not as exciting as it was when I was in college. Puro na kasi Fil-Ams.

We need a football league in the Philippines to sustain fans' interests.
We can start small. Probably a league of 5 teams to be formed by the
corporations which have extra funds for sports development and at the
same time promote their products and services. They can also import
some foreign players to inject quality and competitiveness of the games.
With the resurging popularity of the sport, I believe football will attract
sponsors and more fans to follow the sport. This will also inspire young
kids to take up football.

dapat kasama itong futbol sa programa ng daang matuwid e. 8)

I don't think football can replace basketball in our country. No, a million times. Why? Because you can find basketball court in every corner even at talipapa. Whereas football field requires a huge amount of space. They should have more than enough of these in order to arouse many to love this kind of sport. But Filipinos already have a big problem of having a space for housing for the homeless. How can they sacrifice shelter as one of the basic necessities in life for leisure? It's silly and illogical, isn't it?

I didn't even know there's no more SMB.. Last time I checked there was Purefoods and Sta. Lucia.. How about Alaska? I need to have a look at their site, I'm really outdated... :(

I believe Basketbll will remain as the Pinoy's fave sports alongside boxing... I admit, football excites me as well as many Filipinos now because of the current success of the Azkals. "first love never dies"..... The problem with football here is the lack of playing fields, unlike the basketball which you can play anywhere even in a small place and of course for free.... I just hope that the Azkals will continue their winning ways to keep the fire burnin' in Pinoy's heart and be recognized as a team with world class caliber that can compete with world's best..... Good luck to Azkals!!! Sipa lang ng sipa!! MABUHAY ANG PINOY!!
