These are all great sports and Filipino are a big sports fan.

I myself watched Azkals vs Sri Lanka and will watch the game vs Kuwait on July 28 live at Rizal Memorial.

however i don't believe its goodbye to basketball... some of you said its in our blood and truly it is.

Soccer is an emerging sports and as early as now the Azkals should not stop winning or else the interest of Filipino will go down same as in basketball. Azkals or Philippine football have accomplished a lot with the help of ABS-CBN. If basketball or PBA is getting the same exposure as Azkals then PBA would do a lot better.

BASKETBALL WILL NEVER DIE.. as long as you see basketball court in almost every corner of the street then it will be the number 1 sports, When boxing emerges as a dominant sports we did not say goodbye to basketball, why now? TS must be imagining. These sports can live together. we can all love them at the same time. right?

also its hard to promote football to the masses as we dont have much football fields. boxing is the most accessible sport.

o yeah basketball got its much needed boost with Kobe, Durant, Rose, Paul and other NBA Stars visiting us... I will also watch these games both of em live. BASKETBALL is ALIVE and will never die

Do you agree?

PBA has been in existence for more than 36 years while mainstream football is barely a year. Look where we are now inthe basketball world. Kulelat! I don't think the hype that has been given to PBA can never be equalled by any sport in Philippine history. With the popularity of the Azkals more kids are taking up the sport and more sponsors/government local officials are participating in the training of kids and also in the grassroots level. Football is in a feverish frenzy never seen even in baketball. See these videos if you don't believe me:

Ang daming Azkals wannabee. Those kids will be our future national players. :D

okay, but who sucks more?

talo nga. the Azkals had more attempts and controlled the game most of the time but the Chinese Taipei team made the 2 perfect executions although yung 1st goal was somewhat in question kasi parang offside eh. anyway, the game was worth watching, as usual the Ilonggo crowd was there to do the cheering pero marami din ang pumunta mula sa ibang places from around the country.

FOOTBALL IS STILL THE NO.1 Sport in the whole world and theres no way basketball can overtake this sport. Sana noon pa :)...Why? simple. Big field + players no height required and use only feet to dribble and kick the ball.

Philippines is slowly accepting this now. In most sectarian esp. catholic schools, you will see big field, small fields available. Another factor is the team azkals on their way and never stop introducing this.

FUNNY THOUGH, In Olympics, Mostly amateur footballers only attend the kick-off and ever since, there were no professionals/star players who attend this sport in olympics. BUT IN BASKETBALL?,, Mostly NBA players, professional players attend and participate this game with at least 7 footer height with a small field only playing by hands.

Thatswhy WORLD CUP is still number 1 and done every 4 years. With 100% all in teams/country as 1 nation competing unlike basketball with multiple nationality playing in small basketball court:)

not until we have a good and convincing pay-for-play scheme. where we can promote legit players to play in professional leagues. leagues which are sanctioned by both fifa or pff.

we don't have grassroot programs that our youth would be interested in joining. camps which could develop/hone one's skills to be a better player.

as coach weiss said (in one interview), "in europe we always have top caliber football players, because, starting from an early age, they (soon to be football legends) eat-sleep-play football all their lives. so when they enter the professional arena, they are well-equipped with skills".

in our country, the first thing that we teach our youth is to throw the ball in to the basket and not to kick ball. :)
