(06-12) 10:53 PDT -- Super middleweight boxing champion Andre Ward says that if he was Tim Bradley, he would give back the WBO welterweight title belt to Manny Pacquiao.

Bradley won a very controversial decision against Pacquiao on Saturday, and almost all of the reporters and fans in Las Vegas thought Pacquiao dominated the fight.

"It was a ridiculous decision," said Ward, who was at the fight. "Bradley lost the majority of the rounds. If it was me personally, I would admit defeat and say, 'Here's your belt back.'"

Bradley said after the fight that he would watch it again to see if he really won. But his comments got stronger later, saying he thought he "carried the fight with my jab" and that he was the "No. 2 pound-for-pound" best fighter behind Floyd Mayweather.

If Bradley did watch the fight over again, he would clearly see that he lost the fight, Ward said. Bradley didn't get one good punch in, Pacquiao said, and Ward agreed that Bradley's lack of power was evident.

"There was nothing there, nothing to suggest it was even close," Ward said. "If you were being generous, extremely generous, maybe you could give Tim four rounds and he loses 8-4. I love Tim, he is a friend of mine, but he has to know that he lost that fight."

And Bradley should say that and give the belt back to Pacquiao.

"It's the right thing to do," Ward said. "It's a tough situation, but you gotta make a stand and that will help make sure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again. He won't lose any stock - in fact, his reputation would be enhanced.

"It would help us put the reigns on this Wild Wild West situation that boxing has become."

Ironically, if Bradley had lost the fight he might be looked at more favorably by boxing fans.

"He has nothing to hang his head about," Ward said. "He hurt his foot early and he never gave up, took some good shots and hung in there."

Ward was at the Pacquiao-Bradley match to promote his Sept. 8 fight in his hometown of Oakland against light heavyweight champ Chad Dawson. Ward was stunned just like everyone else at the MGM Grand when the split-decision result was announced.

"My first reaction was shock, then anger and then sadness," Ward said. "I have dedicated half of my life to this sport and what happened Saturday is unacceptable. And it's going to continue to happen until there is a commission that starts to impose sanctions. There have to be investigations and punishments."

The executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission said he anticipates no discipline or review of the two judges who scored the fight 115-113 for Bradley. (The other judge had Pacquiao winning 115-113 while the Chronicle had it 119-109).

"That's a shame, because they're messing with people's livelihoods when they allow this to happen. It hurts the sport's credibility, it hurts the pay-per-view numbers ... Boxing was doing great again after the Mayweather- (Miguel) Cotto fight, but one situation like this and we're back on life support.

"It hurts everybody. Everybody involved in the sport."

Sorry Andre but Bradley is still intoxicated with his "victory" to care about what you think.

P4P contender Andre Ward is one with Dela Hoya. I am now an instant fan of this fighter. Kudos to you Ward! :)

To Bradley,

Listen to Andre Ward he has a sound mind and speaks like a gentleman. We need more gentlemen in this sport. It will help your name and become an honorable man. Just ask for a rematch. PacMan is a nice guy. I am sure he will give it to you. But you got to give the prestige back to its right owner and help the sport of boxing. This is your bread and butter. Do the right thing.

This is the only way I MAY come back to boxing, just if Bradley returns belt to Pacquiao and does not expect a rematch. Last move is Bradley's and he'll be the hero that revives boxing. I'm betting though that he won't.

That was a very strong statement from Andre Ward. If there's a way to reorganize boxing they should try. They are the fighters. Not so easy. Problem with boxing is champs and players change all the time. You do have a few steady superstars like Floyd and Manny but that's it. Plus one real loss can change everything. Wish ODLH has an awakening and become truly a fighter's promoter since he once was a fighter, himself screwed before. Problem is he had Barrera who then became unhappy with GBP too. How about Manny? Does he have enough influence to do this? Maybe Manny and Floyd together.

well Tim Bradley, you can keep that belt, however you must prepare to lose your livelihood and save your $5M earned in the fight because with your next fights until you retire (unless there's a rematch)..... there will be no one to watch you! I will be surprise if you can even pull 1000 at the gate.

However return the belt and your name will be etched it boxing history as the man!

If Bradley does that, then Manny should do the same and hand the belt to Marquez.

i think its a long shot, guys
tim will not accept defeat, much less return the belt back to pac
unless the WBO declares it a no decision, tim would not surrender the belt and forfeit his win

Bradley will make history if he does that gesture, our faith in humanity utterly restored but his career will be over. Men in power won't like the fact that the sheep is standing up to the wolves.

The big picture: Damned if he do damned if he don't.
