Winning the heart of his fellow filipinos

for helping those typhoon victims even before his Dec 8 fight:

"I am aware of what is going on, and my prayers are with the people of the Philippines," Pacquiao said. "I have people who are monitoring the situation, and they will handle anything I am asked to do."

Pacquiao, a congressman from Sarangari Province who is running unopposed for re-election in May, said his district was not severely affected by the typhoon. But he said he stands ready to help.

"I'll go out and raise money for the people who were affected," Pacquiao said. "I have helped my countrymen before, and I will do whatever they ask me to do to help."
