The current Gilas roster is no different from the Gilas of the past. Chot Reyes made no adjustment. We had very little success competing in FIBA tournaments coz we lack in height. And what does this current Gilas has in common with the Gilas of the past. They both lack in height. Instead of loading up on big men Chot Reyes prefer to have 3 extra point guards aside from Castro only to bench them for he lives and dies with Castro. If Gilas play a ten game series with the Aussies, Gilas would be 1 for 10.

Gilas would lose by no less than 15 points against the Aussies.

Chot should replace Alas then with Almazan, Maliksi with Slaughter/Standhardinger sana kung pwede lang... :) :D :(

Height is over rated in today's basketball. It is about 3 point shooting, floor spacing, fast pace basketball. Just look at the NBA where small ball basketball dominates eg: Golden State Warriors. Height is irrelevant. The center position are getting obsolete. Recent 2016 Rio Olympic's Team USA roster has no 7 footers and they still dominated every single competition with several 7 footers.

1. 6'8'' Carmelo Anthony
2. 6'8'' Harrison Barnes
3. 6'6'' Jimmy Butler
4. 6'11'' Demarcus Cousins
5. 6'6'' Demar Derozan
6. 6'9'' Kevin Durant
7. 6'8'' Paul George
8. 6'7'' Draymond Green
9. 6'2'' Kyrie Irving
10. 6'11'' DeAndre Jordan
11. 6'1'' Kyle Lowry
12. 6'6'' Klay Thompson

he he he these are black americans, they may not be 7'footers but they are very athletic - jumps very high, moves very quick, last but not the least, they are the best in the world!

The NBA are full of black americans. But teams that dominates are the ones that play "small ball" basketball which emphasize on pace, space and 3 point shooting like the Warriors, Rockets, Cavs etc. Teams with tall line ups with traditional bigs does not seem to win as their small ball counterparts eg: Pelicans, Nuggets Clippers etc.

Philippines, 2 nations to host 2023 FIBA World Cup
ABS-CBN News
Posted at Dec 09 2017 08:46 PM | Updated as of Dec 09 2017 09:14 PM

The Philippines, together with Japan and Indonesia, won the hosting rights for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

This will be the first time the FIBA World Cup will be played in three separate countries. The Cup will take place in Manila, Okinawa and Jakarta.

FIBA awarded the hosting rights to the three countries on Saturday night (Manila time) after Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and its counterparts from Japan and Indonesia showcased how they can help grow basketball exponentially.

The SBP also proposed the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena as a venue for the finals.

Back in 2015, the SBP fell short in its bid when FIBA decided to grant China the right to host the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

This time, however, the Philippines decided to team up with Japan and Indonesia for a shared bid against a joint proposal from Argentina and Uruguay.

Filipino basketball fans also rallied via social media by using the hashtag #PlayLouderIn2023 to boost the bid.

The three countries made their joint presentation before FIBA's Central Board in Geneva.

Just one question, bro. Does this mean Indonesia, Japan, and Philippines are automatically qualified for the World Cup?

Nice! Post-2019, Team Philippines should focus on firming the players by joining many regional championships using different players...

Time also to scout for younger foreign player (to be naturalized like Andray B who will be much older @ 37 by that time) for 2023. Hope Jordan Clarkson will also be eligible & available by that time.

Ayos, Philippines as the lead host of the 2023 World Cup of Basketball.

32 teams yata lahat participating teams nyan. 16 teams dito sa pinas maglalaro in the preliminary rounds, 8 teams sa Japan at 8 teams din sa Indonesia.

Sana ka bracket ng Gilas ang USA sa preliminaries... :) :D
