Let's say Mark will still play 20 more games this year including the Governor's cup...
If he'll average 3.5 points per game, he will surpass 10k points within the year... :D
Sana lang wag ibangko ni Cone para makuha ni Mark ang milestone... :D

Belated news... :D

Mark Caguioa joins elite 10,000-point club

Seven-time PBA champion Mark Caguioa on Friday became the 16th player in league history to record 10,000 points.

The 2012 Most Valuable Player reached the milestone in Barangay Ginebra's 106-92 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

"I'm just thankful that I reached that," Caguiao said. "I didn't wait for it, but to join the other locals who did it, it's an honor to be next to those guys. And to do it for one team, I'm thankful."

The veteran guard joined the 10,000-point club after knocking down a jumper with a minute left in the game. After four consecutive misses, he finally connected on a midrange shot off a pass from Scottie Thompson, prompting an ovation from the crowd and his teammates.

"All of my teammates helped me reach 10,000, including LA [Tenorio] and Scottie. It's a good thing that I didn't embarrass them and the fans watching," he said.

Caguioa finished with a season-high 16 points, including eight in a pivotal third frame. He was two points shy of reaching the 10,000-point mark when he got subbed out at the end of the period. He made sure to complete the unfinished business when he was inserted back in the final four minutes, admitting that he wanted to get the job done at the Big Dome.

"I started most of my games here in Araneta. I thought if I do it on Sunday in Sta. Rosa, it won't be the same. I grew up here in Araneta, the people saw me grow here. I wanted to make it special and achieve the 10,000th point here," he said.

Caguioa, who has spent all of his 16 seasons with Ginebra, became the third player in the franchise to record 10,000 points, next to Francis Arnaiz and Sonny Jaworski.

As he reached another milestone in his career, Caguioa could not help wishing that his longtime backcourt partner Jayjay Helterbrand was there to share the moment with him. Caguioa and Helterbrand, famously known as the Fast and the Furious, won six championships together before Helterbrand retired last year.

"Everything happens for a reason. I wish he's here but we all grow old and I'm nearing my retirement as well," said Caguioa.

With multiple titles and individual accolades under his belt, the 38-year-old Caguioa has nothing more to prove but he still wishes to collect more trophies before he puts an end to his decorated career.

"I'm just looking for more championships before I retire. Hopefully consecutive championships," he said. "I hope I can help the team win more championships."
