Ok, gone is the wild reckless magsayo so ALA is listening.

Nice jabs but there is one glaring weakness again with ALA boxers.

STAMINA and Conditioning.

Magsayo faded and was looking like he was ready for the taking in the late round sayang walang lakas ang japanese.

Like Villanueva. Magsayo will get knocked out if he fights a top caliber boxer.

Why don't they train in Bagui or Tagaytay high altitude training like Team LAKAY?

They keep doing the same routine over and over again and getting the same result.

That's always been the problem with ALA boxers. Technically, the top guys are good - just lacking the gas tank to last the championship rounds.

To me Magsayo did a lot of good things staying behind that jab. It was consistent. But he should of boxed more. He had an aggressive iron chin boxer coming at him. Magsayo should of let him walk into his shots. Counter punching is where he has to improve on. He always wants to brawl it out. The problem is he doesn't have the elite power or stamina to hang in there and trade. When he stopped jabbing and got tired that's when Shota got the best work.

Magsayo keep that jab active.

And box more.

z gorres vs montiel - 2007
banal vs concepcion - 2008
pagara vs juarez - 2016
the list goes on ...
Its been 10 years and counting and the system seems to be the same.

Magsayo is more skilled though.

Love that JAB. He needs to develop it! More snap on it because it didn't keep SHOTA off in the late rounds.

See how Shota just couldn't go in if he keeps that jab on his face. He can't just walk in.

Also he needs to use that jab to set up his shots.

Also when to trade and counter. I notice when he moves back he just doesn't do enough counter off the back foot.

He needs to work on his back foot counter or slip away off the ropes do not just back up and cover.

But overall good test and good performance.

Magsayo can learn a thing or two from Ancajas

He should study how Ancajas fights; how he uses his jabs to keep his opponent at bay & how he uses his jabs to set up his punches; how he releases a counterpunch when his opponent is on the attack and he is backing up; and how he slips out of harm's way by moving sideways --- a la Paquiao he slips out after dishing out a combination, with the opponent hitting nothing but thin air.

kung excitement lang hanap mo panoorin
ayos ang style ni magsayo
sabayan ubos lakas tira lang ng tira
matira matibay :D

Still some way to go for Magsayo, ALA's best chance for a new star. But they should not blow it and develop him more, but against better opponents. Someone like the guy who knocked out Albert Pagara, and gave Donaire problems. Now Pagara is being fed bums again.

Melindo is ok, but I don't think he will last long in his reign (unless opponents are chosen well by ALA), and I thought Budler should have won in their fight.

why don't our local boxers observe and train like the way paquiao trains?
many are saying that manny's "killing himself" in rigorous training in his
every fight. so why don't our boys emulate what manny's doing, especially
the development of stamina?

Magsayo deserved the victory albeit he gassed out in the championship rounds.
He's however lucky Hayashi also ran out of fuel in the dying stages of the fight.
But the Japanese has a steel jaw & a rock like body.
Mark had thrown his most powerful & vicious shots on the face & body of Tosha to no avail.
Bottom line, Magsayo has a devastating power but Hayashi is durable with granite chin & body.

Magsayo should fight now the top contenders in his division like the no.1 ranked Joseph Diaz,
Why face nobodies if beating them won't shake his ranking as no.2 in the WBO list?
Fight Diaz in an eliminator, then after beating the American, challenge Benavidez for the title.
He has a big chance of defeating both Diaz & the champ. Both won't go the distance.
Go! Magsayo go!

Ancajas has better potentials than Magsayo. Better boxing skills and full stamina.
Ancajas is the next Pinoy great !

Because he is from ALA gym same trainers, same methods, same system equals same results. A TKO or KO Loss.

As talented as Magsayo is he wont go any further than he is now you wont see improvements because of of ALA gym.
Servania has improved because he left ALA gym and moved to JAPAN. Magsayo should do the same.
