Hay ang sarap balikan ng FIBA Spain

Croatia 81-78 RP in OT with Chan just missing a winning trey in regulation
Greece 82-70 RP but still a wire-to-wire finish
Argentina 85-81 RP. Did you see Norwood posterized Scola & Mata?
Puerto Rico 77-73 RP. Barea just waxed hot otherwise it’s a possible win
RP 81-79 Senegal. Krakken was a beast with 15 pts & 9 rebs.

May element of surprise ata dyan, di nila tayo na scout dyan? Or na underestimate nila tayo...

Ngayon, we're back to reality :D

That's what critics are saying to undermine our Gilas impressive performance then. The element of surprise can also work against us. We're playing in world stage after a loooong wait so it's also possible na nagkalat tayo dun being neophytes again in world hoops. Mas matindi pa nakalaban natin former world champs Greece and Argentina and perennial contender Croatia. Kulang lang tayo ng height pero sing-liksi tayo nila, training lang talaga abroad playing with the bests at mahabang preparation.

naawa ako sa Galis este Gilas at the same time nganga sa galing ng laro ng Srbija

as I've said, after every RP team debacle the rants, blame game and proposals always follow...medyo matagal tagal ko na din nasubaybayan ang national team and this pattern is unmistakeable

to be honest I've yet to see a workable, concrete and convincing proposal to turn around our bball program, from all sectors--sanctioning body, coaches, fans...but I agree that the national team coach should be one very familiar with international play and with experience as head coach...Toroman, Baldwin yan mga ganyan...actually Tab is, to belabor an obvious observation, ideal at this point...he has spent several years as our NT coach, also immersed himself in our local bball scene and knows the mentality and fundamental makeup of Pinoy hoops players

maybe we need to address the basics, the existing mentality of our players in order to get to the next level

Let's not expect much from a Gilas team hastily assembles just 2 weeks ago...
You want that team to beat Italy and Serbia?
Angola went thru the same experience...
If our rag-tag team can beat Angola, I will be happy at magpapa canton ulit ako sa office...
Even US will be beaten black and blue by Serbia in the Finals...that is if aabot sa Finals ang US...

Here's what we need..
Kung meron tayong at least sampung katao na kasing laki ni Junemar na kasing athletic ni Japhet na kasing liksi ni Castro at shooter ala Lassiter, pwede na natin talunin ang Serbia...
At baka mag champion pa tayo sa World Cup..
Coach na lang ang kukunin nating import...

Yung Serbia, puro malalaki then puro shooters..
Kita mo sa halftime, three point shooting ang pina practice nila..
That says something about the team...

Talked to David, Manny's personal assistant...
Wala pang definite sked..and they are yet to finalize who should be his next opponent...

I agree, also the players should be willing to play for their coach no matter what the situation is, they believe that they can win. Of course primarily is for the country, hindi yung tipong experience, papogi, pasikat

Junemar held his ground..kaya nya makipagsabayan sa bigs of the world.
Kaya lang mas mabagal talaga sya compared sa kanila pero at least he's trying..

agree, yung Srbija bawat segundo pukpok talaga.......while ahead by 30+ pts ! there is no lazy, soft play....tayo parang nagsu-switch off intermittently, madalas magpapasa ng malamya parang may "time first", as if papayag ang Serbian players na pagbigyan yung ganon...ayun laging intercepted

saka ambilis ng movements nila, their passing, their shooting, heck even their loose-ball saves, they always anticipate everything that may happen, contrasted with our players na parang programmed na ang movements without that split-second ability to react, I know we used to say the same thing about Chinese, Japanese and Korean players before na "mechanical" sila, but at the World Cup level it seems tayo ang "mechanical" compared to the truly world-class elites :(

Barroca

what the hell was Guiao even thinking :bounce1:

one of the very few bright spots si Fajards, also si Japet "like it's hot" and of course CJ, Bolick

Norwood was a disappointment, same with Blatche, to a lesser extent Troy, Pogoy etc

PBA and SBP need to come up with a good program for Gilas.

1. They can start by having shorter conferences.

2. Let Gilas play against top teams before actual competition. For example, China participated in the NBA Summer League. We can try that or against World Cup-bound teams.

3. Hire a coach with legit international experience.

I agree, shorten the conferences of PBA to start the program for the next WC stage (2023) ..from 3 conferences which almost run 11 months in one season and shorten it into 2 conferences…. Start with all Filipino (Philippine Cup) conference and then Open or Invitational conference which open to all foreign clubs or foreign national teams (much better coming Europe).. before the open conference they should already formed the national team that will join to open conference (PBA will decide how or what format to follow). I think this will be a win-win situation for SBP and the PBA, because the Philippine team already preparing for FIBA games and at the same time PBA games can continue with their regular games and I think this will attract more gate receipts for PBA because of the foreign team participants. :-)
