In short, just accept the fact that Philippines, just like some of the neighbouring Asian countries will only be as "FIBA fillers" , just fill up the grouping line ups. No need to buzz just watch them play win or lose.

It's a reality that passion in playing basketball ( in FIBA or others) does not necessarily translate into winning...To win even one game can be treated as a bonus while losing is an always constant given. :D

why do nations compete in the FIBA WC anyway ?

for prestige ? for bragging rights ? to show the world they can hang with the best hoops teams ?

let's say FIBA, for whatever reason, allows 2 naturalized players, maybe even unlimited naturalized players.... how does this affect the WC ?

ginawa na dati ng Qatar yan sa FIBA Asia...built an NT made of mostly African/non-Qatari players and instantly became Asian contenders

what if Qatar or UAE with its vast wealth lures the NBA's top 30-ish guys and wins the WC bronze finishing ahead of perennial heavies like Spain, Australia et al ? does UAE even have a pro hoops league ? and they win the WC bronze...

what kind of convoluted interpretation of "levelling the playing field" do we take from all these ? if anything, this reasoning of allowing more naturalized players takes the existing playing field to an abnormally "rigged" playing field, one that would pander to "moneyed" federations instead of actually promoting healthy hoops development among member nations :?

For the sake of leveling the playing field why not? 2 naturalized players even with nba superstars in their lineup wont make them a dominant team, basketball is a team game.

What is the point of participating in a competition where their is no chance of winning? FIBA world cup are just beneficial for European and American teams. I would rather see a league where the playing field is almost even, just like in the NBA.

Stick to current rules and just play ball.I agree, that Philippines is weak specially this current line up.
That's not FIBA's problem. It's the Philippine basketball Association. So FIBA is suppose to feel sorry for you and change the rules to make your team better LOL. Sad!

this thread's premise is lame, whatever happened to human perseverance?

it's against our core to cry and have the rules changed.

"git gud"

the way you want it is a smack in the face of the really good basketball programs in Europe and Americas

if we have the same basketball programs, even train at the same age then try making changes in the program

do you even know how comprehensive their program is? fcuking uninformed people.

USA dream team outscore their opponent by 40+ points. same with USA team where vince carter posterized the 7-footer lithuanian. they just cruised to victory easily. walk in the park ika nga.

so far, hindi pumasok sa utak ng FIBA na baguhin ang rules just because 1 team dominates
ang nangyari, yung mga kulelat na european teams and south american teams, nagpursige. inayos ang basketball programs nila

the results are very positive. many of their players became nba-caliber. the gap between the USA team and these teams closes. tinalo pa nga ng iba yung yu-es-ey

ayusin ang basketball program ng pinas
at early age, mga junior high school pa lang, dapat mag identify na ng prospect
yung ma identify, suportahan to reach his maximum potentials

saka more international goodwill games para naman ma expose ang mga players sa international play
hindi sila sila lang sa pba naglalaban laban

PBA is like a reflection of the country system, BULOK, dumb, backwards, incompetence.

Needs a clearing operation. Didn't realize it was this bad. :(

I don't live in the Philippines. So don't know how pathetic the league really is.

Maybe we need to call for emergency powers from the PRD ROA DUTERTE.

A good basketball program may help if we are talking of Asian FIBA kaya lang kung world cup na pag-uusapan di po tayo uubra sa ating mga counterpart sa America at Europe, kasi physically bigger at stronger po talaga ang lahi nila, kanya its too difficult if not impossible for an Asian country to win a championship in FIBA world cup without the help of naturalized players.

Just saw the last 4 minutes of the game.

It was that interior defense of Philippines at fault. Angola went inside the paint to post up or cut and Gilas couldn't stop this because they are short inside. Troy Rosario shouldn't have been out there in the last minutes he can't defend to save his life and was getting abused inside. He can't defend. I also notice Perez having a lot of turnovers late and he was also being abused inside the paint. I don't know why they are blaming Ravena. DEFENSE is still poor inside because of the lack of height Angola wisely took advantaged of it.

Nonsense!  You have the worse case of defeatist mentality. We are not strong enough bla bla bla! It's too impossible. What you do is improve and get better than them. Instead of being a little girl!
