Kawhi Leonard(video) SF 6'7 225 San Diego State
Kawhi Leonard

Jeff Eisenberg of The Dagger: Kawhi Leonard has good length, freakishly large hands and the ability to defend and rebound as well as any perimeter player in this draft, so why did the 6-foot-7 ex-San Diego State standout fall to No. 15? Probably because he shot a mere 29.1 percent last season from 3-point range. If his jump shot improves in the next few years, Leonard will be one of the best players from this draft. If it remains a liability, he’ll have to buck the odds to get consistent playing time despite an inability to consistently hit a wide-open mid-range shot.

Cory Joseph(video) PG 6'2 183 Texas
Cory Joseph

Jeff Eisenberg of The Dagger: You can tell Jay Bilas probably isn’t wild about a pick when he begins his analysis with the comment, “This is a little bit of a surprise.” Indeed it is a surprise that the Spurs would select Cory Joseph this high in the draft, considering the Texas point guard was considered a mid-second round pick at best entering the day. Joseph would have benefited greatly from another year of seasoning in college, but he won’t have that luxury. Instead he’ll have to serve as Tony Parker’s primary backup since the Spurs unloaded George Hill earlier in the draft.

Davis Bertans SF 6'10 210 Latvia
Davis Bertans

Jeff Eisenberg of The Dagger: Intriguing Latvian prospect Davis Bertans is a classic Spurs second-round pick. They’ll stash him in Europe for a couple years and hope he develops. He has a reputation as one of the better shooters in the draft.

will the hill trade, the spurs also gets the rights to this guy:

Erazem Lorbek is a super-skilled player who, offensively, can do it all. It's very hard to find 6-10 men like him with such a repertoire of abilities and solid fundamentals. Where do we start? Lorbek can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court on a good percentage. Unlike the majority of power forwards, he has a reliable jump shot off the dribble. You can see him often put the ball on the floor and take it to the basket. If his matchup overreacts, he'll step back and make him pay with a midrange fade away jumper. Speaking of dribbling, Lorbek has nice handles with both hands. He can use them in transition, as he runs the court decently. Also when penetrating, where he can beat his opponent by faking his shot. One of Erazem's most positive attributes is his post game. He has good footwork and knows how to use his body to take full advantage of his skills. A very nice soft touch around the basket completes the package. Lorbek sees the court very well, and always passes to the right man. He can attract defenses and then find the open man with a nice dish. He's a better passer facing the basket then from the post. The pick and roll comes naturally to him. He usually makes the right decision. Fully understands the game. He has great basketball IQ. A clutch player and loves big games, so you won't see him afraid of taking responsibilities. He's very competitive.

With their last selection in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Spurs drafted Adam Hanga, a 6-7 guard/forward from Hungary.

Hanga wasn't on many draft boards, but it just goes to show you that the Spurs do their due diligence when it comes to scouting overseas.

Hanga, like Davis Bertans, is a draft and stash player. The 6-7 Hanga is an athletic swingman with a very good jumper.

Mark Deeks of ShamSports describes Hanga as "the best Hungarian player alive" and calls him a "smooth and versatile wing."

Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford said Hanga is a player the Spurs liked that they will take a wait and see approach on.

"(He's) very fast, very athletic, great offesnive skills. I don't know if he's ever crossed the line to go into the defensive end of the floor, but hopefully we can introduce him to that.," Buford said. "(He's) a kid that we like his personality. We'll see what happens."
