OWNED BIG time
Don't hate the Spurs for being so good.

By the way I like the Rockets too, but if the two teams meet, I go for the Spurs.

SPURS WITHSTAND KNICKS' RALLY TO VICTORY

Image

By BRIAN MAHONEY

NEW YORK(AP) Tony Parker scored 24 points, including five down the stretch to halt New York's frantic comeback attempt, and the San Antonio Spurs held off the Knicks 105-93 on Monday night.

Reserve Brent Barry added 19 points for the Spurs, who blew almost all of a 23-point lead after Knicks coach Isiah Thomas went deep into his bench with his team seemingly out of the game late in the first half.

That nearly worked.

The Knicks used a 20-2 run in the fourth quarter to pull within 92-91 with just over 4 minutes to play on a jumper by Stephon Marbury, who had the Madison Square Garden fans on their feet after they heavily booed him during a horrendous game Saturday night.

But Parker knocked down a jumper, and after Tim Duncan converted a three-point play, Parker nailed a 3-pointer that gave the Spurs a 100-91 lead with 1{ minutes left.

Duncan and Manu Ginobili each scored 15 points and Parker had 10 assists for the Spurs, who won on consecutive days following a victory in Toronto on Sunday. San Antonio made 13 3-pointers, five by Barry...

SPURS PAST SUNS IN OT THRILLER

Image

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 8 (AP) -- With flowing strands of hair held back only by a skinny fabric band, Spurs center Fabricio Oberto sometimes makes coach Gregg Popovich wince with the way he bounces and bumbles over the basketball court.

``He's the ugliest productive player I've ever been around,'' Popovich said. ``He looks like a bull in a china shop out there.''

Tony Parker led San Antonio with 29 points, while the 6-foot-10 Oberto added 22 on 11-of-11 shooting to lead the Spurs to a 111-106 overtime victory over the struggling Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.

The Spurs (4-1) scored 10 of the first 12 points in overtime. Tim Duncan added 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Oberto, a native of Las Varillas, Argentina, also added 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. One of those rebounds came with 35 seconds left on Boris Diaw's miss when the Suns were trying to cut San Antonio's lead to three points...
