Robredo visits Batangas, office gives aid to those affected by Taal eruption
Published January 14, 2020 5:15pm
By LLANESCA T. PANTI, GMA News

Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday led the distribution of over 2,101 food packs and 1,000 face masks to communities affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.

In a statement, Robredo’s office said that each food pack contains 1.5 kilos of rice, assorted canned goods and two packs of noodles.

Robredo first visited evacuees in Santa Teresita, Batangas around 3 p.m. and is expected to visit more evacuation sites on the same day in San Jose and Santo Tomas, Batangas.

Pinapahalagahan din ni madam ang mga animal!

Robredo urges LGUs to set up refuge for animals fleeing from Taal ashfall

While calling for help for the needs of families affected by the Taal Volcano eruption, Vice President Leni Robredo also urged the setting up of evacuation areas for animals.

Having their animals, including their pets close by will discourage the evacuees from returning to their homes and exposing themselves to danger. She said many residents tend to check on their animals they left behind to feed them.

“Marami iyong medyo matigas iyong ulo, bumabalik-balik sa mga bahay nila kahit bawal, kasi may mga ***** na naiwan. So, sinuggest ko rin na baka puede i-consider iyong evacuation center para sa mga ***** kasi talagang inaalala nila papaano iyong mga ***** na naiwan nila. Uuwi sila para magpakain,” Robredo said after visiting the evacuees in Batangas.

Several animal welfare groups and concerned citizens are making a sweep of the affected areas in search of animals that may be rescued. However, a number of animals were also found dead coverd with ashfall.
