Bongbong Marcos wants history textbooks revised
Published January 10, 2020 9:53pm
By NICOLE-ANNE C. LAGRIMAS, GMA News
GMA News wrote:
Former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. said on Friday history textbooks should be revised, claiming his family's recent court victories proved decades-old criminal accusations against them were false.

"What has been proven wrong is essentially what they continue to contend in the textbooks of our children. Essentially you are teaching the children lies," Marcos said at a news forum in Manila.

"'Yung kanilang sinasabi na ninakaw namin, na ginawa namin, hindi lahat totoo. Pa'no ko nasasabi 'yun? 'Yan ang desisyon ng korte. There was no evidence," he said, claiming that the cases against his family dragged for years because of "propaganda."

The government lost at least five ill-gotten wealth cases against the Marcoses in five months last year, including a P200-billion civil forfeiture case that was dismissed only last December.

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), the body tasked to go after the Marcoses' ill-gotten wealth, said it will exhaust remedies after the setbacks.

"I can call anyone a murderer, I can call anyone a thief, but I have to prove it," Marcos said. "Kung hindi, salita lang 'yan. That's just hot air coming out of my mouth. And it turns out even in their case it was only propaganda."

Marcos is the son and namesake of the late former president whose regime was allegedly marred by corruption and killings, enforced disappearances, and other human rights abuses whose survivors have continued to speak out about their experiences decades after the martial law years.

A 2013 law "recognizes the heroism and sacrifices of all Filipinos who were victims of summary execution, torture, enforced or involuntary disappearance and other gross human rights violations committed during the regime of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos covering the period from September 21, 1972 to February 25, 1986 and restore the victims’ honor and dignity."

The Human Rights Victims Reparation and Recognition Act of 2013 allows victims of human rights violations to file a claim for reparation and/or recognition.

At the news forum, he said his family has been calling for the revision of history textbooks for years.

He said the task should be given to history professors and not to political appointees.

His mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, was convicted of graft in 2018 over illegal financial interests in Swiss-based foundations during her time as Minister of Human Settlements and interim member of Congress.

Marcos is currently protesting his defeat in the 2016 vice presidential elections. On Friday, he announced a plan to run for an undisclosed national position in 2022. His sister, Imee, is an incumbent senator. Marcos was a senator in 2013. —LDF, GMA News

Dapat i-revise din o dapat mauna pa ang World history or publications lalu na kung ginawang mga references ang mga ito sa textbooks. Paano? Paano yung batas (RA) na kumikilala sa mga Human Rights Victims ni Marcos?

Example ng mga world publications na kailangan munang ma revise;

Quote:
1. Ferdinand Marcos - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Marcos

Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr.September 11, 1917 – September 28, 1989) was a Filipino politician and kleptocrat who was the tenth President of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. A leading member of the New Society Movement, he ruled as a dictator under martial law from 1972 until 1981. His regime was infamous for its corruption, extravagance, and brutality.

Marcos claimed an active part in World War II, including fighting alongside the Americans in the Bataan Death March and being the "most decorated war hero in the Philippines". A number of his claims were found to be false and the United States Army documents described Marcos's wartime claims as "fraudulent" and "absurd".

Marcos started as an attorney, then served in the Philippine House of Representatives from 1949 to 1959 and the Philippine Senate from 1959 to 1965. He was elected President in 1965, and presided over a growing economy during the beginning and intermediate portion of his 20-year rule, but ended in loss of livelihood, extreme poverty, and a crushing debt crisis. Marcos placed the Philippines under martial law on September 23, 1972, during which he revamped the constitution, silenced the media, and used violence and oppression against the political opposition, Muslims, communists, and ordinary citizens. Martial law was ratified by 90.77% of the voters during the Philippine Martial Law referendum, 1973 though the referendum was marred with controversy.

2. Ferdinand Marcos - Guiness Book Of World Records

https://fenixfilesblog.wordpress.com/20 ... overnment/

The greatest robbery of a government was in the Philippines, according to the Guinness World Records:
Who: FERDINAND MARCOS
What: 5,000,000,000 – 10,000,000,000 US DOLLAR(S)
Where: PHILIPPINES
When: 23 APRIL 1986
The government of the Philippines announced on 23 Apr 1986 that it had succeeded in identifying $860.8 million (£569.5 million) salted away by the former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos (1917–89) and his wife Imelda. The total national loss from November 1965 was believed to be $5–$10 billion.

Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos fled to Hawaii, USA, in 1986, where the former president died. Imelda Marcos returned to the Philippines in 1991, and was found guilty of corruption in 1993. However, Imelda Marcos was cleared of all charges on appeal in October 1998. The Philippine Supreme Court acquitted her, setting aside a 12-year jail sentence. The decision – by a majority of 8-5, with 1 abstention – reversed a January ruling by the Supreme Court on her 1993 conviction by a lower court.

FACT CHECK: No, a TIME magazine cover did not say Marcos had been acquitted in all corruption cases
Agence France-Presse

https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/01/26/19/ ... tion-cases

An image shared hundreds of times on Facebook purports to show a TIME magazine cover featuring late Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos headlined: “The only president with the most projects ever built… and acquitted from all graft and corruption cases."

A search of the TIME magazine archive shows that this is a doctored image and the original cover featuring Marcos did not describe him in this way.

The picture in this January 22, 2019 post, which was shared by Facebook groups with nearly 900,000 followers between them, appears to show a cover of the US magazine TIME.

The cover shows an illustration of Marcos’s face with a sketched map of the Philippines in the background and the words "PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT MARCOS" in capital letters.

Below the image of the leader's face it says, also in block capitals, "THE ONLY PRESIDENT WITH THE MOST PROJECTS EVER BUILT... AND ACQUITTED FROM ALL GRAFT AND CORRUPTION CASES."

A search of an archive of TIME covers on the magazine’s official website shows that the cover of the issue published on October 21, 1966 did not contain the text: “THE ONLY PRESIDENT WITH THE MOST PROJECTS EVER BUILT… AND ACQUITTED FROM ALL GRAFT AND CORRUPTION CASES”.

The original cover did contain the same illustration of Marcos’s face and the words "Philippine President Marcos."

A screenshot of TIME magazine's online archive showing its cover from October 21, 1966
The altered cover image has been shared by several Facebook groups which support the Marcos family.

Data from Crowdtangle shows that these groups have a combined total of 898,078 followers.

dapat nga siguro revisit ang national heroes as written in our textbooks and taught to our children..

one criterion that I believe should be firmly upheld is that recognition should be universal and unanimous among all sectors of our society..

it's about time that Filipinos decide for themselves who should be called their own hero..I have nothing against Rizal, but I think he was chosen by the Americans for us to recognize as a "hero"

si Ninoy, he's a hero to those who believe Marcos was a villain in our national history...but in the same vein, those who believe Marcos did more good than harm also think Ninoy is a false hero...

I don't understand how someone like Ninoy who actually inspires division and furious debate among Pinoys could even be treated as a hero....

just my two cents
