MANILA, Philippines — Seven persons, including a minor, were caught with some P1.3 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in three separate stings in Quezon City in the past two days.

Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said around 135 grams of shabu with a street value of P918,000 were confiscated in Barangay Sangandaan at around 10:30 p.m.

Esquivel said drug surrenderee Amor Furagganan, 40, and Rizal Rodriguez, 33, were arrested after they sold shabu in exchange for P10,000 to a policeman posing as a drug buyer.

The five other suspects were caught yesterday. Among them are Mica Joy Dellosa, 19, Jay Ocampo and Jocelyn Dalagan, 40.

They were arrested in Barangay Sauyo at around 5 a.m. The operation resulted in the seizure of some 60 grams of shabu worth P408,000.

Records show Dalagan has a pending illegal drug case in Malolos City, Bulacan.

In the same barangay at around 2:15 a.m., Muhaimin Ibrahim, 20, and a 17-year-old girl were caught with five grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P38,000.

Aside from the seven, 27 more suspected pushers and users were apprehended in other police operations in the city.

The minor was turned over to city social welfare and development officers.

Shabu worth more than P400,000 seized in Tacloban City buy-busts
By: Robert Dejon - Correspondent / @rdejonINQ Inquirer Visayas / 03:11 PM January 23, 2019

ORMOC CITY—The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) of Eastern Visayas recovered a big haul of shabu from two of four arrested suspects in two buy-bust operations in Tacloban City Monday.

A report from the PDEA Regional Office 8 under Director Edgar T. Jubay to PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino showed that the four suspects, one of them a resident of Manila, were apprehended in two buy-bust operations in different areas in the city.

Michael Virtudes, 27, a tattoo artist, and a resident of Santo Tomas, Pasig City, was arrested in a buy-bust operation inside the Loremar Pensionne House, at Barangay 50-B, Youngfield about 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Recovered from his possession was one sachet suspected to be shabu worth P1500 that was procured by a PDEA agent during the operation.

During the body search, the agent recovered three big sachets also containing shabu weighing 10 grams estimated to be worth P68,000, the buy-bust money, and a P1000 bill.

The second buy-bust operation along Magsaysay Boulevard, Barangay 25, about 11:50 p.m. led to the arrest of three persons.

Arrested were Tykie Alcaraz, 32, on the drug watchlist and a resident of Anibong, Barangay 57; Vince Baldota alias George, 20, of San Jose, Barangay 87, and Kenneth Acueza, a high-value target and a drug surrenderee, 19, and a resident of Anibong.

The target of the buy-bust operation was Alcaraz who was reported to be a supplier of shabu in the area. But PDEA said that while they were negotiating with Alcaraz, the two other suspects, who were with the suspect, also offered to sell shabu to the PDEA agent.

Recovered from Alcaraz was one sachet containing suspected shabu procured by the agent for P3000. But during a body search, Alcaraz yielded a big sachet containing high-grade shabu weighing 50 grams worth about P340,000.

The PDEA agent also recovered from the two other suspects two small sachets containing shabu worth about P1000 each during a body search.

The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. They are now detained at the PDEA RO8 detention facility./lzb

P1.5 M shabu, guns seized from 3 suspects in Bulacan checkpoint
Inquirer Central Luzon / 10:53 AM January 24, 2019

DONYA REMEDIOS TRINIDAD, BULACAN—Shabu (crystal meth) worth P1.5 million were seized from three suspects at a Commission on Elections checkpoint in Barangay (village) Pulong Sampalok at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 23), the Bulacan police said.

The 210 grams of contraband was found in a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Joselito Isidro, 30. Florinda Alipio, 46, and Jerome Jay Nino Maguisa Silverio, 26, were in the same vehicle.

The vehicle was flagged down when policemen and soldiers manning the checkpoint saw Isidro driving without any upper garments.

They found an Ingram Machine Pistol tucked in the driver’s seat, prompting a search of the vehicle that uncovered a bag containing six plastic sachets of shabu and a caliber 9mm handgun.

The three suspects will be charged for possession and transport of illegal narcotics and for possessing weapons during a gun ban imposed for this year’s midterm elections. Carmela Reyes-Estrope/lzb

Customs uncovers P12 M shabu in Port of Clark; narcotics stuffed inside wafer cans

Published January 25, 2019, 8:37 PM
By Betheena Unite

Almost two kilograms of shabu worth P12 million were discovered anew inside cans of imported wafers at the Port of Clark, the Bureau of Customs said late Friday.

The 1.8 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu were put in four plastic packs and then stuffed inside four cans of “Pepperidge Farm Pirouette” from Nevada, USA, the bureau bared.

The shipments were declared as candy and baby clothes; however, due to the directive to profile and screen succeeding shipments after a series of discovery of illegal-drugs concealed in the same manner, the shipments were marked for thorough inspection.

During x-ray examination, K9 inspection, and physical examination, the illegal drugs were found and were later confirmed to be shabu.

Warrants of Seizure and Detention against the shipment were later issued by Acting District Collector Lilibeth Sandag for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), R.A. 10863 and Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The seized prohibited drugs were also turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III on January 24. The next day, a joint controlled delivery operations by PDEA and Bureau of Customs followed. It led to the arrest of a suspect, whose identity was withheld.

Earlier, a total of P148.4-million shabu, ecstasy, and marijuana were also found stuffed in canned goods from California and Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The series of discovery prompted the bureau to order intensified measures over shipments brought in using the same manner. (Betheena Kae Unite)
