30 elite cops killed in clash with MILF
Edwin O. Fernandez Inquirer Mindanao
12:10 AM | Monday, January 26th,

COTABATO CITY—At least 30 police commandos were killed in a clash with Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters in Maguindanao province early Sunday, in the first violence since the government and the MILF signed a peace agreement last year.

Mohagher Iqbal, the lead MILF negotiator in peace talks with the government, confirmed the incident, but neither the MILF nor the military would say how many fighters were wounded or killed, or to whom they belonged.

“This is the first encounter between the MILF and [government forces] this year. Hopefully, this will be the last,” Iqbal said.

“The clash was triggered by a no-coordination police operation,” he said.

He said the police commandos first attacked an area where there were no terrorists.

“They also attacked our position, that’s how our troops were dragged into the encounter,” he said.

PNP-SAF casualties in encounter now 50 - ARMM police chief
By: Dennis Arcon, InterAksyon.com
January 26, 2015 6:52 AM

COTABATO CITY – The number of casualties from the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) in the encounter between the police and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Tukalinapao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao has now reached 50.

This was confirmed by Senior Superintendent Noel Armilla, PNP director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Monday morning.

The number of casualties is expected to rise as monitoring continues in the area, said Armilla.

It is said that six of the 50 are officials.

Maguindanao remains on alert.

The PNP-SAF was aiming to arrest Zulkifli Bin Hir alias Marwan and Basit Usman, each with a bounty of 5 million US dollars on their head.

The entire Central Mindanao has been enveloped in sadness due to what people are now calling a new Maguindanao massacre.

There goes the peace talks...
Kung MILF nadehado dito, pull out na sila. Kawawang mga alagad ng gobyerno at pamilya nila... The peace talks will continue for the better paper legacy of a few.

from what has been reported, the military was not informed of the operation so kulang sa back up / support. and that the operation may have been carried out due to the bounty on the head of the intended person to be arrested.

Quote:
Quoting reports from MILF field commanders, Von Al Haq, MILF chief for military affairs, said at least 30 policemen were killed in a clash with suspected BIFF fighters in Tukanalipao village in Mamasapano at about 3 a.m. Sunday.

“They were all new to the area and know little about it,” Al Haq said.

He said it was possible that the $5-million price on Marwan’s head was the reason for the PNP’s bypassing coordination with the AFP and the MILF.

Condolence sa mga naiwan.

Wala pa bang high ranking cabinet member ang pumunta sa Mindanao para sila ang makipag usap?

Di yan matatapos hanggat di nauubos magkabilang panig.

Sasabihin kesyo walang coordination. Nangyari na dati yan.
