All professionals out there, please share what you can say about Republic Act No. 10912 (RA 10912) or the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016.

I just want to know your thoughts on this law authored by our beloved Sen. Antonio Trillianes IV.

RA 10912 was enacted “to promote and upgrade the practice of profession in the country ... [and to] ... improve the competence of the professionals in accordance with the international standards of practice, thereby, ensuring their contribution in uplifting the general welfare, economic growth and development of the nation.”

Burden lang yan sa tingin ko. Improve na lang nila ang curriculum sa primary and secondary para mas maganda ang foundation. Anyway kapag nagaapply ka ngayon tinitingnan naman ang experience mo plus mga trainings and certifications relating to your field of expertise.

Eto daw ang purpose ng batas...

RA 10912 is arguably a giant step—albeit a necessary one—undertaken to enhance the competitiveness of Filipino professionals and to open more opportunities in the national as well as in the international level, especially as the ASEAN economic community integration has already commenced.

For example...

Civil engineers must have 27 points to renew their license in 2018 and 45 points by 2019 onwards...
Points can only be earned if you join seminars / conventions sponsored by PRC recognized professional organizations...

if i am not mistaken, ang standard na ito ay implemented na ng matagal sa mga seafarers natin. yearly me training/seminar, continuous yan.

we need to be at par with the other countries. like i know a citizen from Germany, where he got his degree on Electrical engineering. he works as such in the US. while mga pinoy engineering grads, cannot practice as such. correct me if i am wrong but it is the same with our doctors, di pwede malipat at magpractice sa US at ibang bansa as one. our nurses or physical therapists have to pass a state board...

Obligasyon natin yan mang jabz dahil sa ASEAN mutual recognition agreement. Nagkasundo ang mga bansa sa asean na dapat magkaka pareho ang sets of reqts para pwde makapag practice ng propesyon mo anywhere in the asean region

Baka di ka busy sa march. May training the trainors sa thailand. One-week seminar workshop. I will attend at ng maapprove na ng PRC ang application ng office namin na maging CPD accredited provider sa pinas.

Pm me ur full name mang jabz. Para sakali kung mag attend ka ng sponsored activities namin, 40% discount mo. 20% for senior citizen + 20% as badinger-Z

IMHO... depende yan sa experience ng professional...

for example, may ward nurse ka at my special ward nurse (ICU, OP, NICU)...

ung ward nurse usually should do additional trainings, to which the nurse will shoulder the expenses... while ung si special ward nurse, may trainings tlaga yan sila which are paid by the hospital itself but most of those trainings ay wlang CPD units.

:)

See the burden?

I agree with seaman na meron silang yearly training/seminar..
Pero is it really necessary to extend it to all professionals?
Is this the only way to make us at par with counterparts from other countries?
What if sa Pinas ka lang naman nagtatrabaho and you're not planning to work abroad?

I heard that reason...ASEAN integration daw...
Pero most if not all will just participate conventions and seminars not really to learn but just to earn some points...
IN the end, everything will boil down to additional expenses at really magiging pera-pera na lang...
