Malapit na ba nating makita ang pangalan ni idol dito? Most likely, as new 2011 overseas endorsements deals predicted to rake in @ $10M yearly :)

Pacquiao now richest lawmaker
By Jess Diaz (The Philippine Star) Updated May 05, 2011 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - Boxing champion and Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao scored another first by being the richest member of Congress.

“He is the first billionaire member of the House based on his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN),” Ricardo Bering, director of the House records management service, told reporters yesterday.

He said Pacquiao declared assets worth more than P1 billion.

The boxing champion faces Shane Mosley in Las Vegas this weekend in a fight that would earn him tens of millions of dollars or hundreds of millions of pesos more.

He has been mostly out of the country since before the Christmas season last year promoting and training for his match with Mosley.

Last week, US media reported that Pacquiao was the highest paid athlete in 2010, earning more than $32 million (P1.376 billion at P43 to the dollar).

Bering did not release Pacquiao’s SALN to the media, saying his office is still collating the assets, liabilities and net worth declarations of all the more than 280 House members before releasing them in a summarized form as was the practice in previous years.

Under the law, public officials had until last April 30 to file their SALN.

So, Manny's worth of ~$26 Million is still dwarfed by PH richest #40 Edgar Sia II ($85 million). Pero malapit na syang pumasok sa list. Maybe he can invest part of his finances (~10%-25%) though blue chip stocks para makatulong sa pag-angat ng kanyang net worth. He can also command for shares of stocks instead of cash as talent fee from San Miguel the next time he has a contract for product endorsements / commercials.

Based on 2012 Forbes release, the net worth of #40 Edgar Sia the former owner of Mang Inasal (acquired by Jollibee) increased by $55M. With that, Manny will have the difficulty barging into the Top 40 list unless he earns stocks from SMC instead of cash from his San Miguel endorsements. I think most of those in the list benefited from the run up of the PH stock market.

Manny Pacquiao should buy a significant amount of shares of stock into businesses of these elite so that he can be admitted as member of the Manila Polo Club and Manila Yacht Club.

It would take a while before Manny can crack this list. How can he crack this list kung kailangan pa nya mag cash advance kay Arum before the fight para lang mabayaran yung mga gambling debts nya?

Hopefully, with his renewed faith, and with him turning away from gambling and other vices, eh mabawasan yung mga perang tinatapon nya sa pustahan, even yung sa pag finance nya ng election campaigns nya.

A few more years of good investments and sound financial planning, he will make the list. But then you have to ask, does Pacquiao care at all at making this list?? I don't think he is motivated by such things.

I also think so. Manny is satisfied to be in the Top 100 List (not in the Top 40) :)

Bakit kaunti lang ang congressman at senador sa list? Wala rin si Manny Pangilinan?
