` Western religions, abrahamic, may have heavily influenced the notion, belief and acceptance
of a round earth/planet during and for the last 3 milleniums. Quite surprisingly, the eastern
or asian/middle eastern ones never specifically postulated a round, circle earth. Its not in their
teachings nor in their sacred writings or books, (as far as I know), but there are others like the
Sumerian culture and civilization w/c, in their clay texts, cites/points to a round sun and other planets.

Billions of humans today believes the world is round, like a ball, a sphere.

In the middle ages, there was a 'thought, belief' that the earth is flat
and sailors are forbidden, by punishment of excommunication and death,
to travel beyond the horizon, lest they be eaten by sea monsters
and/or fall off at its edges.

We haven't seen sea monsters (yet) but have we gone over
the horizons, beyond Antarctica ?
