This question is not an attempt to debate whether or not God or any gods actually exist. Those kind of debates almost always don't end up very well, especially here in PRMO.

Instead, consider the question in the most literal sense. Like what the Tracie Harris asked in the latter part of the video. Specifically, if you are claiming that God is existent, what "thing" are you pointing at? What existent "thing" do you think you're labeling as God? When you're saying "God", what are you meaning?

Again, just a caveat, the "What" question should be addressed in the most literal sense. The usual metaphorical, allegorical, anecdotal or emotional attempts of explaining "What" is God should not be used.

Good question bro.. :)

I believe each believer has its own definition about God.

For me, its a realization of an independent entity that causes everything that exist and its purpose.

There's an old saying: "You can find a city without walls but you cannot find a tribe without gods"

For me, its all depend on how we define life. If we exist by chance without any purpose and at the end of our destiny another life would exist and wonder the same question, it would be a meaningless journey. If God's creation is just a product of human imagination why the debate on both sides never seems to end. Its been discussed long before information become accessible to almost everyone.

For me, the belief of super natural BEING is not just for unreasonable people, it could also penetrate to the most logical person.
If we are all wanderer in this life's journey, it wont be easy for us to carry conflicting loads of baggage, we may soon decide what to keep and what to left behind.

:)

It is such a rewarding journey for myself, coming from being indoctrinated to becoming an atheist. I can still remember the entire process, that is whole life. I love sharing it, and that's why I am here in PRMO.
Some atheists like myself are not lost, evil nor possessed. I can only describe myself as a very observant person and someone who tries to be independent. Independent on all the clutter that surrounds me especially the ones that claims divine or authoritative. As far as I'm concerned, I don't need any of those, by my clear mind guiding my own way.
What is God? God is a rumor. Tsimis lang yan.

Mang jose let me say this. You and all of us will never ever be independent as what you want to be.

We are in need of each other and each other are in need of what is surrounding us.

To answer the question.
God is beyond us. Beyond our understanding, beyond our imagination, beyond everything we know.

First, the qualities of God as defined in religious circles ;

God is sentient
God does not require a physical form
God can control physical phenomena
God can create life
God has a day which spans 1000 human years

A question :

Can God travel back in time?

My experience cannot be diminished by labeling it with a word. It deserves more than that.

A simple problem asks: what is the shortest way to get from point a to point b? And if we reasonably determine that it is a straight line, then we would not need to what's beyond our understanding.
Of course, there are bigger questions, problems, and challenges. I will admit, that we need each others input for big problems. However, it should be very clear that some questions are left unanswered. Try not give up finding an answer. Don't let the "God" label stop anyone from finding a solution.
What is god? It is a way to give up on unanswered questions. It is laziness.

a song from beegees
I just change the word grease to GOD

I saw my problems and I'll see the light
We got a lovin' thing, we gotta feed it right
There ain't no danger we can go too far
We start believin' now that we can be who we are, GOD is the word

They think our love is just a growin' pain
Why don't they understand? It's just a cryin' shame
Their lips are lyin', only real is real
We stop the fight right now, we got to be what we feel, GOD is the word
(GOD is the word, is the word that you heard)
It's got a groove, it's got a meaning
GOD is the time, is the place, is the motion
GOD is the way we are feeling

We take the pressure, and we throw away conventionality, belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believin' now that we can be who we are, GOD is the word
This is a life of illusion, a life of control
Mixed with confusion - what're we doin' here?

We take the pressure, and we throw away conventionality, belongs to yesterday
There is a chance that we can make it so far
We start believin' now that we can be who we are, GOD is the word

(GOD is the word, is the word, is the word)

a well mean meaning....

Bro greane, generally, I understand what you mean. But, your answer still didn't exactly address the "what" question. You said, "a realization of an independent entity. "Entity" is too vague a word. What is this independent entity? What independent entity are you labelling as "God"? Care to expound? :)

Lyt, is is it safe to assume then, that your answer is "I don't know"?

I'm not ridiculing you when I say "you don't know". But when you say "beyond everything we know", you're basically saying "I don't know". Am I right to deduce that?

Bugoy, that's why labelling someone as an atheist serves no real purpose. It's like labelling someone who doesn't play golf a "non-golfer".

On that note, i-apply natin yung tanong mo. "Pano kung wala nang mga golf players? Ano na ngayon yung mga 'non-golfers' ?"

Walang sense di ba? :D
