NO HYPE: just plain facts

Against Sosa, clearly mayol's hands were faster, stronger and more relentless. Mayol was connecting hard shots to Sosa since Round 1. He was throwing good combinations. The one that dropped Sosa was a 5 punch combo before the flurry of about 15 unanswered punches that forced the ref to stop it. I haven't seen Mayol as sharp in his previous title fights.

Mayol's 4 failed attempts to become a title holder brought his game to a different level. You can see this in his last fights. When I saw him against Calderon the first time, I was impressed and I knew he could have won that fight if it went on. Then his rematch, I thought he was even better but Calderon has the advantages and running gameplan. Mayol has improved his physical abilities. He moves well, he looks strong and his hands are quick. Comparing his movement in his fight against Eagle Kyowa and his fight against Sosa, Mayol looks so much sharper..... so much improvement and I think he is a real top dog in his weight level.

I'm just worried about his stamina cause he hasn't passed 6 rounds since his fight with Solis so the stamina problem may still be there.... we don't know... two of his legit/unquestionable losses were against Kyowa and Solis and those were stamina problems.

I feel Mayol will be a long time champion. Calderon and Sosa couldn't even keep up with his pace. But running and acting tactics won't always save paper champions. Segura's power won't match Mayol's power + speed. Only real threat to Mayol is Calderon and Viloria who has the skills but we all know Calderon wouldn't want another faceoff with Mayol.

While nobody can refute the fact that he's a good boxer in the light flyweight division, I believe he hasn't earned enough like Viloria, Segura and Calderon to be on top of that division. Perhaps a brutal beating of Sosa and any of the three whom I mentioned would catapult him to the top. :peace:

Speaking of promotion, by beating Sosa, Mayol should now be promoted in the forum from: Up and coming Filipino Boxers Who are Making Waves to Filipino World Champions ( Active ).
