One month before the mandatory fight between Omar Niño and Rodel Mayol for the WBC light flyweight championship, Niño complied with the pre-weigh-in mandated by the World Boxing Council. Today at noon, in Guadalajara, his hometown, Niño Romero weighed 52.000 kilograms, which means that he is in a weight that is more than optimum, as he is only three kilograms above the limit of his division. The WBC allows fighters to have a maximum overweight of 5 kilograms thirty days prior to the bout. “I am very motivated, mainly because my Promoter Hector Garcia has just told me that Mayol will be ready to fight me on the agreed date.” The battle between Niño and Mayol, scheduled to take place on February 27th, very likely in Mexico City, has been confirmed by the representative of the Filipino fighter a few hours after the WBC issued an ultimatum.

Good luck Mayol. Hope you do not follow the footsteps of Marvin Sonsona. 8)

Don't worry, at least Mayol already have a built in excuse in case he lose and will just say that he lacked time on training!

Baka maubusan din ng hangin gaya ni BV (Trans: He may need to borrow Pacman's PED to be sure he gets past defense No. 1 )

Mayol lives in LA, near the Wild Card Gym. So he's probably always training.

Anyway, I hope Mayol keeps the title against Romero, without much controversy this time, and hopefully no more headbutts.

GO MAYOL!
