Marvin is a RAW power fighter. He only has a range finder jab and straight left he relies on. Other than that he has a very low work rate. Little movement. He can back pedal well but no clear head and body movements. He's an easy mark against the ropes.

He badly needs a new trainer. And maybe a new manager. I agree, he should have at least 3 tune up fights in the division before going for the belt.

MISHANDLED RAW GEM.

Handlers and trainers should take most of the blame. Fighters
will always have that bravery to accept the fight from a champ-
ion. But the ones who's rushing him to get a slice of that pie that
is Sonsona's take should be the guilty ones (Sam Gelo-ani). The
trainers too could have at least say he won't be ready for at least
4 more fights. But we didn't hear that from Donaire Sr., he is just
as eager to get his trainer's fee. Instilling in the boys' mind that
he's the next Manny Pacquiao is almost a sin.

The kid is poor and needed the money so he took the FIGHT but he was just not ready for it yet. He will be back. Ge ollani rushed him yes, but money dollars talks the kid made more than he ever did before.

Poor handling I'll say. Him going up 2 weight division, should test the water first before fighting against the TOP DOGS. Messing up an spectacular career at 19 years of age is just beyond me. An idiotic move if I may say. (He is no Pacquiao in the first place). He is a good boxer but nothing close to PacMan at his age because the Lb for Lb king got speed and power. Go slow but sure kid.

SONSONA is a bum for now until he gains the much needed experience to get into the limelight.

the guy last fought at super flyweight and has spent most of his young career at flyweight. why throw him in there with an undefeated super bantamweight with an 82% KO percentage?

i guess it made perfect sense coming into the fight as the kid was having trouble making the super flyweight limit and a title opportunity opened up, but now that you've seen the result, looking back, don't you think a few precautions could have been taken by his handlers to prevent this sort of devastation from happening, like, say, A TUNE-UP FIGHT?!

or is it perfectly reasonable to expect every untested young prospect (his best opponent prior to vasquez was a 37-year-old guy with seven losses in jose 'carita' lopez) to move up the scales as gracefully as manny has?

mind you, when manny jumped two weight classes to super bantamweight earlier in his career he was already a veteran of 28 pro fights and had a chiseled, battle-hardened physique. the same cannot be said about sonsona.

stop calling our boxer a bum! it's not fair!

It's not really the boxer's fault.. a real fighter will take up any challenge, it's up to the trainers and promoters to make sure that they get the fights that will be best for their boxers.. and this is not one of em'

Sonsona has alot of talent, and I think he can go along way if he matures and works harder in preparation for all his fights. But I think the majority of the blame has to go to Sammy Gello-Ani, his promoter. SGG Promotions has been doing this ever since Marvin won his title against Jose "Carita" Lopez, sending off inexperienced fighters to the lions. They sent Casimero to fight the only guy to beat Giovanni Segura. And although he won, you got to admit that it was too early in his career to fight a top-10 guy in Canchila. And Casimero's next step is fighting Ivan Calderon?? I know beating Canchila is impressive, but this is like sending Sonsona to fight Vazquez Jr with no experience at the weight. I wish Casimero all the luck, and hopefully he beats Calderon :D And lets not all forget about what happened to Kid Terrible. SGG forced him to go down in weight (possibility of being drained) to fight a great champion in Montiel with no relevant win on his undefeated record. SGG really has to work on creating experience for their younger fighters...
