Along with Adidas, CONVERSE was among the most popular shoe brands in the 80s. The best players in the NBA proudly wore and endorsed it.
What happened?
It didn't evolve. It foolishly stuck to its old design for years. Only the colors changed.

NOKIA 5110 was an instant classic. It revolutionized the text generation. Ericsson and Motorola were left behind by a mile.
The product had no close competitor during its commercial reign.
What happened?
Nokia exploited and abused its authority. It always forged a way to annoy the consumers. Features were split from different cellphone models each year. You could own a cam in one model but the video was available in the other. Sheeeit.

Next to Apple, Samsung should have been Nokia right now had it not refused to evolve. Now it's reduced to following the trend, instead of leading it.

What else that comes to your mind?

Sony is actually not yet out...

But it has been lagging recently...

It's strategy before to have it "all Sony" with its memory cards backfired...

The sad thing is, they are getting beaten on all fronts:
- TV (LG and Samsung gained much ground)
- Mobile phones (Goodbye cool "elite" Sony Ericsson phones)
- Music players (bye bye walkman and discman. Their mp3 players didnt fair well too)
- Computers (There was a time where my dream laptop was a VAIO... its cool factor is gone)

They still have their Playstation though... but the "gaming console" craze is not that big anymore (I think)

Yahoo... perhaps?

I have not seen anything "new" from Yahoo in a very long while...

It got fresh blood with a new CEO... so we'll see...

Windows... almost...

For a long time, Windows has dominated the "consumer OS" market.
We were moving from one version of Windows to another... accepting whatever the OS provides...

Apple and Google found a way to "sneak-in" the "consumer computing" market...
now, people most of the time, use their phones and portable gadgets to do most of their computing...
Desktop computing will eventually go down...

Microsoft's gamble? Windows 8...
we'll see if their gamble goes well...

Film is out. Pictures are being developed now via stored memory from a digi cam or cellphone. I think it has lost its main source of income. I dont know how theyre evolving right now.

Record companies selling music via CD will be next.

They will be beaten by companies which distribute music online.

The thing is, CD creation cost money. Distributing it costs money. Exporting it costs money.

Apple was on the right track with Itunes.
It got it correctly to the point that they sell their software online through the app store.

A few years from now, data distributed through CDs will be a thing of the past.

Aren't they all selling music online now?

I think NetFlix will die too.

Best Buy stores will go out of business in 5 years. Book it. Once they realize their real-estate is worth more than their stores, they'll be gone. They'll switch to 100% on-line.

Sears is already half-dead.
