Bro,they're continuing the tradition with the combination of Sidney Crosby and Evgeny Malkin these days.
And for sure, lockout ended after 113 days. It's either Jan. 15 or 19 for the start of the 2013 season. Angry or not, fans will eventually warm up to the sport they so love during these winter days, regardless if it's a shortened season. :)

thanks for the heads up bro. I'm a LAKER fan and i should root for the defending champs LA KINGS, right?..

go PITTSBURGH!! 8)

8) so true...
NHL highlights are good as you get them but staying to watch the whole game even on front row seats could make you fall asleep...

Tried so many times convincing myself to like this sport during my stay at beantown but really nothing... Maybe if I have stayed a little more north, in Canada, I may have been convinced by the crowd effect.

l think it is because we got so used to the high scoring game of basketball or football.
In hockey or soccer, the thrill is in the anticipation of the next goal.
Hockey fans say that in high scoring games like basketball,
you don't get to cherish every goal because the celebration is so short lived,
unlike in hockey where every goal is so hard to produce.
I didn't like hockey in the beginning as well, but when i started to follow the games closely,
l learned to love it.
Hockey players are among if not the toughest players on earth.
There are no divas like in basketball (no offence ), where a very minor injury is enough for a player to sit.
Hockey players play through cuts, broken bones, concussions, etc.
Steve Nash playing with a broken nose attributes that act to hockey,
where players losing teeth is normal, and they are so damn proud of it.

Glad to finally see the Kings raise their banner.

To the posters from the Philippines, can a hockey rink fit inside the new Mall of Asia Arena? I checked Araneta but the floor wouldn't be big enough. What about the new arena? Maybe someday the NHL will schedule a preseason game over there. It'd be HUGE.

Kings fan here too... Was expecting a cup during the Gretzky/Robitaille/Hrudey days during my childhood but was always disappointed. Never thought a squad lead by Dustin Brown, Kopitar, and Jonathan Quick would give LA its first cup... 8) "My "f**k*n team!" as Quick would say it

First Pinoy in NHL-Canada visits PNoy

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino-Canadian hockey player Josh Nicholls paid a courtesy call on President Aquino on Thursday.

Nicholls, a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, gave the President an autographed hockey stick and taught him how to hold it.

It had a Philippine flag sticker on it and a line that says: “To my President P-Noy.”

Nicholls is the first Filipino to have played in the National Hockey League in Canada

Bobby Lu will make Toronto a playoff team.
But it will cost the Leafs a Tyler Bozak and a Kadri /Gardiner.
