I was one of those who jubilated when Manny gave Marco a neat boxing lesson. Without doubt, Manny is now the world's best featherweight. Testimony to this is that Manny's name is now mentioned in all boxing websites, sports TV and columns worldwide. Indeed, Manny has arrived.

As I jubilated over Manny's victory over Marco, I just cannot help recalling the names of Rolando Navarette and Flash Elorde at the back of my mind.

Navarette fashioned the same electrifying victory when he captured a world title years back. But alas and alack, Navarette failed to invest his winnings to something good. Look at him now.

I put Navarette in the picture at the height of Manny's victory because I would like Manny to learn a lesson or two with regards to what happened to the life of once legendary Rolando Navarette. I do not want Manny to end up like Navarette.

In contrast to Navarette, here's one boxer that Manny should emulate. Flash Elorde, the legendary bootblack from Bogo, Cebu, who came from humble beginnings to capture worldwide attention because of boxing. Not content with worldwide attention, DA FLASH invested his winnings very wisely.

Manny is now in the position to follow Elorde's greatness - not only in terms of becoming a champion in the ring but also in terms of investing wisely his money.

The last time I heard news that Manny had one drink too many and went berserk inside a karaoke club worried me so much. When I heard the news I was beginning to doubt whether Manny can handle success or not.

And now, with the new height that he had conquered, I hope that success will not go into Manny's head.

Many people will approach you with all kinds of offers. Some will offer you to become an actor, and some might even offer you to run for public office.

Ignore all these. These offers came only because you are so popular the this time and these people just would like to ride on your polularity. You are good at boxing. Stick to boxing. Focus on boxing.

Nice comment. I hope Manny will not have a Sudden Rich/Popular Syndrome. I hope he will invest his money wisely for the future of his children. It's a very rare opportunity in time to have moments like this in Manny's carrer. I hope he will use the best of what he have now to strengthen his image as being an excellent model for our youth not only in boxing but also in handling his success in life.

Good piece Ramrod, i am also worried of the same on Manny. But i can see Manny a lot different from Navarrette. If you will notice, Manny has clearer thought and direction than Navarrette. The only thing why Manny is at time like childish is because he is still actually a kid at 24. But being a family man now and with good upbringing, i can see Manny would go places and success would not go over his head. Several reasons why Manny can always check his status, he has his wife Jinky that for sure will always remind him and support him. He has his kids that would always be his source of inspiration and direction, he has Rod Nazario and others to keep him always reminded.

Only two things i am worried of Manny right now. First, where and how he would handle well his money. For sure, Manny is on the verge of becoming a multi-millionaire. With Manny's limited education, he must learn or seek advises how to invest well his money. Second, while success for sure would not go over his head, i am worried of his hunger, hunger just like he had against Barrera. Manny must realize that a lot of fighters want his head right now with hunger! There is no doubt these fighters can be beaten by Manny, but if he came up short of his preparation, he will be upset by Larios, Marquez. Ayala, etc. This thing must be check by his handllers.

I go with Manny that he would end his career at 30, he must do it because boxing is a dangerous sport and performing it longer than your body can, you may not enjoy the fruits of your labor afterwards. After a gruelling years in boxing and after giving his country pride in the sport, Manny deserves to be with his family and his wife and kids deserve to have their father for more years.
Mabuhay ka Manny!!!

I hope Manny's pretty wife, Jingky, will give him a nudge if he has a tendency to stray.

I hope Manny concentrates on the right path and not to go to the ways of hedonism, indulging in pleasure in complete abandon.

I hope Manny will always remember his past, and be forever thankful to the Lord for all the blessings he received and never be arrogant.

And to help others in need.

For in a wink of an eye, if you displease God, He can take it all away again.

Yan na nga ang problema, e. Because of his limited education madali siyang maloko tungkol sa pag-handle ng kanyang pera. I really hope Manny gets the right financial adviser.

Mabuhay ka Manny!!!
