CAN GERRY PENALOSA STILL FIGHT?

At age 37, many believe that the boxing career of Gerry Peñalosa is over. After losing his last two title fights, the former 2-time world champion was set to retire from the sport after more than 20 grueling years. At least, that’s all we thought. According to an article by Joaquin Henson of the Philippine Star, Gerry is now considering a big comeback against 24-year-old Abner Mares of Mexico. The article stated that Billy Keane, Peñalosa’s manager, is now talking with Golden Boy Promotions for a slot on the Mosley-Mora showdown on Sept. 18 and if everything goes smoothly, Gerry will fly immediately to Roach’s Wildcard Gym and begin his training.

THE LAST TWO FIGHTS OF LOLO GERRY WERE NOT IMPRESSIVE. HE JUST BORED ME TO DEATH EVERYTIME I WATCHED HIM FIGHT BECAUSE HE RELIES IN HIS DEFENSE SO MUCH. HE DOESN'T PUNCH AND HE WAS LACK OF FOLLOW UPS TO ACCUMULATE SCORE AGAINST HIS OPPONENT.

I THINK GERRY NEEDS TO RETIRE FROM BOXING BUT IF HE NEEDS THE $$$$$ MONEY I THINK IT'S STILL OK FOR HIM TO FIGHT FOR THE SAKE OF THE MONEY WIN OR LOOSE.

he needs to stay retired. he has nothing to prove anymore. i don't want to see him get knocked out before he finally realize he doesn't have it anymore!

He has savings (i assume), and still connected to Phil boxing in general. he can still make a living out of the sport.
For his sake, he should call it a day.. Gerry already gave numerous pride for his name and the country.. :D

Mares is a tough fight..Gerry can still fight ofcourse, but not at the highest level..Hes getting old now and the decline is pretty obvious in his previous fights...But hey, Mosley bet Margarito who is much younger, but not as young as Mares is to Gerry..If the fight push through then we could just hope for the best for Gerry and hope he wins. 8)

Gerry just priced himself out of an important fight. Golden Boy was offering $50k for Penalosa to fight Abner Mares (Ring Magazine ranked #5) on the undercard of the Mosley/Mora fight on September 18th in Los Angeles. Too bad, it was an HBO PPV card too.

Gerry wanted $100k, instead of the $50k.

Hopefully Sampson Lewkowicz sees this opportunity for another Filipino bantamweight... MICHAEL DOMINGO (Ring Magazine ranked #10). Domingo needs that fight against Mares to boost his ranking in the alphabet rankings so he can finally fight for a world title.

priced himself out?! no way! that means he's scared. di nga siya natakot kay jml, kay abner mares pa kaya.duh.
over-priced himself, that fits more.
we all know gerry is doing all this for the last hurrah, the glory and make as much money as he can from these last fights.
