It wasn't about his stamina. As reported by fightnews, it was probably due to head shots. I hope he's okay. He doesn't deserve this... nobody does.

Here's the account of Ace Freeman of FightFan.com for the uneventful 10th round:

Round 10: Melendez goes for broke in the final round but Z is up to task. A low blow by Melendez pauses the action but Z is unfazed. With the fight in the bag Gorres boxes well and continues pumping the jab that has served hims so well. SHOCKER: In the fnal moments of the round Melendez rocks Gorrez and drops him hard. Gorres survies the last ten seconds of the round to seal the deal. Decision coming up…

Final Decision: Gorres wins a unanimous decision 98-90 (x2) and 97-91.

Note: Gorres collapsed in the corner post fight and was taken out on a stretcher. Our thoughts are with him and his family as he goes to the hospital for observation.

The low blow may have something to do with the knockdown and collapse?

It's hard to breath when one is punched at the balls...my take is that Z had a hard time breathing and he have taken it lightly that resulted to a little amount of oxygen entering into his brain, while the fight was still going on.. :(

Check out fightnews..

This is really so sad and very serious matter..Usually a boxer who collapsed on or after a fight will not be allowed to fight for a long time or worse, for a lifetime...

Sad...I hope ALA knows where they failed or this stable be banned forever too..

It's been said , repeatedly and repeatedly by so many pinoy boxing fans, ALA boxers don't have to used their head and body as bait in order to win fights. Tsk!tsk!tsk!!!! Warriors they are but not smart enough to protect their life. Hope he'll be alright after the surgery. I'm praying for your recovery Z!!!!!!! :(

He's been hit a lot more with head shots before, and i don't think he was hit more today than with his two losses..And i think with a good conditioning,he won't collapsed especially after surviving a fight and wins..I believe stamina is the problem with Gorres..And ALA coach should have notice this while in training everyday with Z...

This is exactly the reason why Manny had to pray before and after the fight.

Eh tanga ka pala eh. Just because he got more head shots before compared to this fight doesn't mean that he's not going to suffer from a serious head injury in this fight. Post ka nang post hindi ka nagbabasa sa previous post

That punch could have been the one that hurt him, If you see the blow by blow account it says, " Gorres boxes well and continues pumping the jab that has served hims so well"...meaning his stamina was serving him well with the round comng to an end, but lo and behold here comes a 1 punch KO that rocked hima hard...

so anong stamina pinagsasabi mo?!?!?!

And heres another news
Gorres is already in a Comma na daw...****** ****

first let me start by saying i am a fan of Z Gorres & the rest of ALA boxers..

but what happened today is due to poor conditioning.
we will never know what will happen prior to a fight,
but it has been evident time & again that their trainers
failed & continuously failing on taking good care of their
boxers condition..

ALA is a good gym.. skilled & competitive boxers, great
facilities and honest promotional management.. but w/
what happened today , i hope they will start reviewing
their trainers & conditioning team as well as their training
routines..

I hope the best for Z, his family & the rest of ALA..

Yeah ALA boxers are warriors, they really are..but it's so sad and unfortunate, they were trained a wrong way and pre conditioned improperly ( this one as an evidence )..As observed, all ALA boxers have problems with their stamina..And ALA did not do anything about it..THey're only good in hyping their fighters... :? :? :?

Utro pod ka!

Stamina na naman? Give me a guy with a very good stamina have him stand in front of me and i'll knock him col with one blow...\

He suffered from subdural hematoma...search it sa wiki o google...what's his brain have to do with his stamina...come on guys...you know better than that? They have been boxers for a long time and i dont thikn they are going to overlook stamina before they fight...

Haaaaay!!!
