Bro Go for the Dell XPS series, trust me you won't regret it. 1330 more portable, 1530 bigger pero better vidcard. Ang cool pa ng japorms at yung slot in DVD drive nya + like most Dells may remote. Cheaper pa then Sony, eh ang source ng components nila sa loob pareho lang.

Brand is not a priority, it's what inside (specification) the laptop is important. And it depends on how you use them either gaming, surfing, business/office, entertainment/movies, video editing and much more. 1 more tip, please choose laptops with recovery cd's/dvd's and not the laptops that you should burn your own recovery thing.

If you buy a laptop, make sure that the brand itself got a proper website, customer service, and most importantly, downloadable drivers in their website.

One more problem on laptops, they are not video-card upgradable. So if you're planning to have one, choose the one with a dedicated video/graphic card.

Sample story: I have a friend who bought a 'SONY VIAO' laptop who boasts it with having a Vista Home Premium and a core 2 duo cpu (2 years back, 1st release of Vista & c2d). But the problem is, the specs having a low 1GB physical memory, and just an integrated video. It's useless, having a Vista with only 1GB of memory makes the system very slow and with 256mb of ram being fed to the graphics, it's so diabolic, leaving just 768mb hanging in the balance. I can't believe Sony released that model, which I think I haven't noticed it because I know it's rubbish. And now he's annoyed that his system is slowing down...

So if you want to have a good laptop, here are the good specs:

CPU - Dual core (for budget) - Core 2 Duo (spending spree)
RAM - at least 2GB with or without a video card
H/disc - at least 80GB on any applications
Video Card - at least Nvidia Geforce Go 6600 with at least 128mb of dedicated ram

anyone heard about MSI Wind??What´s your take on this brand??

it sucks.

brands that you should beware of: MSI - brittle and cheap construction and components.
ACER budget line laptops - bluescreen errors due to MB construction and type used.
a lot of incompatibility problems.

Dude we are talking about Macbook Pro.. Just the base cost will cost you around $2700 but you need to customize it according to your preference that will beef up to $3600 to $4000. And dont forget the federal tax will be added which 13% on top of your cost.

Avoid the dreadful Sony VAIO  Overpriced for what it does and It has an OS pre-loaded with bloatwares and rootkits
If you don't mind the cheap and plasticky built quality, go for Acer and Toshiba
Asus and HP are good choices for their price range (not so cheap, not too expensive)...But if you want to go for all-round sleekness,top-notch
performance and built quality...DELL is the way to go :)

The NetBook Deep Blue H1 with Linpus Lite. At Php9,000+, it is cheaper than my cellphone but meets all my mobile computing needs.
