bro, for more detailed information, please check this out:

http://www.linksys.com/ <<-------------------------

personally, i own a LINKSYS E2000 (Php 5,900+).

good luck.

Netgear (Wireless-G Router), the cheapest one is better and easy to install. The expensive one is very problematic.

you're welcome, bro.

I like my Dlink DIR-655 wirless router.

Perfect for my VOIP phone and streaming video service Netflix
because it has the intelligence to prioritize among these services
and gives it the bandwidth it needs. Plus, it has 5 gigabit network
ports and a USB port for a shared network hardrive.

With the price going down to $70 its unbeatable considering I bought
mine for $130 plus tax a year ago.

(Oh its also wireless N, that's a wider range than B and G)

it shouldn't be about the brand... but the type of signal.
the 802.11 protocol uses three bandwidth frequencies 2.4 GHz, 3.6 GHz, & 5 GHz
and has four versions: a, b, g, n.
the most common is the 802.11g, it operates mostly on 2.4 GHz frequency
and has a speed of up to 54Mbps and an indoor range of about 38 meters, outdoors 140 meters.
the most recent is the n type, 150Mbps and on some models up to 300Mbps.
indoor range: 70 meters outdoor range: 250 meters.

if you plan to get the n type, make sure you get an n type receiver too.
it would be stupid having a 300Mbps access point with a 54Mbps receiver.

Here's some reviews from CNET: http://reviews.cnet.com/best-wireless-routers/

I hope this helps.

bro, what's an "n type receiver"? is that a type of gadget or is it INSIDE the device (i.e., laptop)?

yep it's a device. on most laptops, it's built-in.
if you have a brand new laptop, most likely it has the 802.11n wireless receiver.
on desktops, oftentimes does not include a wireless receiver
so you'd have to buy either a PCI card or a USB dongle for a receiver.

802.11n = 150-300 Mbps
802.11g = 54 Mbps
802.11a = 54 Mbps
802.11b = 11 Mbps

wow! thanks for the info, bro.
that's the first time i've heard something like that ("receiver").

good day!
