Apple 'copied Swiss clock design'
yahoo tech

Switzerland's national rail company is accusing Apple of copying the look of its station clocks for the iOS 6 operating system used by iPhone and iPad mobile devices.

Both designs have a round clock face with black indicators except for the second hand which is red.
An SBB spokesman says the rail company is "proud" the tech giant chose to copy the 68-year-old design.

But Reto Kormann told The Associated Press today that Apple had not asked for permission before doing so.
Kormann says SBB will seek an amicable agreement and compensation from Apple.
An Apple representative in Germany declined to comment immediately on SBB's claim.
Apple itself has launched several patent, design and trademark claims against rival companies in the past.

Then file a lawsuit and let the judicial process take care of it.
No need to make such a fuss. :snoring:

not true. Apple is 100% innovation. they revolutionized the way of claiming patents and filing lawsuits for copyright infringement ! who knows, next time they would sue anybody who builds a circular object without their consent.

this is how Apple made a mockery out of patent design lawsuits. no offense mysql, but it's true. :D

they are learning from what Apple is doing. simple way to make money and eliminating the competition, looking for anything that would seem identical no matter how big or small is considered an infringement. this is the trend that Apple has started. and it comes back to haunt them. what goes around, comes around.

I think they had. I'm not sure if it's still on-going or settled out of court. sometimes out of court settlements are not disclosed to the piblic as part of the settlement deal. anyway, if there was a company that is very aggressive on pursuing lawsuits, Apple is the only one I can think of. I can understand why Apple is doing this. it is to protect their investment, longevity in business or self-preservation, and maintain a monopolistic control, most importantly in the U.S. in an expanding and competitively growing market, it becomes much more difficult for such company to maintain such control and they must find a way to atleast minimize the damage. Apple seems to find a small loophole in the patent department and exploited it for their benefit. it is a brilliant move at the expense of promoting stupidity and defying basic logic. the danger to this kind of trend started is that how it is easy for someone to file a patent for basic or an already known concept and just wait on milk out on someone who could really create a device or bring into reality a concept that the supposed patent filer whom only rely on the smallest similarity but cannot even produce nor knew the intricate details of making the device. this is the can of worms or pandora's box that Apple has opened. I just hope that they could still close it.

Problem is, Apple made fuss when it sued companies they said copied them. So when the same happens to Apple, it would be a normal thing to talk about it, right?
