FLOPPY DEVICES
NETWORK BOOT..

I cant make screen shot, so yan lang sa TAAS.

Put the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
Press a key when you are prompted.
Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
Click Repair your computer.
Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

Type Bootrec.exe /fixboot, and then press ENTER.

Type Bootrec.exe /fix mbr, and then press ENTER.

Good luck.

Did you save the boot order in the bios, the CD drive being first?

To clarify you installed the OS on drive "D" as stated in your first post? Hard drives containing the OS are usually assigned as drive "C".

Are you on dual boot and assigned the second hard disc partition as "D"?

If memory serves me right Win7 has to be installed first before XP on dual boot for it to work on some laptops. I'm certain of this because I had the same problem 4 months ago. I'm not saying it can't be done with XP being first, but it's less of a hassle.

ok. seems your bootmgr cannot be repaired using the automated method. Lets do it manually:

Boot again using your Win 7 DVD installer and go to command prompt option.

in the command promt, type: BCDEDIT.EXE

and you'll see entries something like this:

================

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit.exe

Windows Boot Manager
--------------------

C:\Windows\system32>

=========================

take note that "Windows Legacy OS Loader" is your WIN XP NT loader (Partition C) and

"Windows Boot Loader" is for your Win 7 (Partition D).

Try to change the partition corresponding to the correct OS. kindly refer to red entry above for reference.

Now here's the difficult part, changing the partition letter in bcdedit will be needing some command lines to complete... Hope I can it explain it to you in a more easier way but it can't...

here's some guide on how to do it bro. good luck.

actually bro you, in multiple OS setup the ideal procedure is you must always first install the older version going up to avoid any problems with bootloader or boot manager. e.g.

1st to install win 98
2nd win 2000
3rd win XP
4th win 7
and so on...

if you need to install linux it should always be the last OS in the series.

hope it helps guys.

Interesting...I have a netbook which behaved differently when I installed XP first on dual boot and it created problems for me which is similar to what the TS is experiencing. Reversing the process is what worked for me but your suggestion does make sense. Thanks for the insight, bro CM.
