Binuang ng ideyaha Bai. Statue in the Philippines is for the heroes and Manny has not reached that level yet. He is a prizefighter and he is fighting for money not for the country; Olympic Boxers are the ones fighting for our country's name and pride.

If Manny donate to Charity 1 peso for every peso he bet on gambling, seguro maconsider pa siya ana nga hero.

Give me US$50K and I will fight Barrera anytime, anywhere and I don't need a statue if I won.

I agree (but with a bit more repect for the Pacman's achivements). Manny should be commended and admired for all the postive things he has done for the country. He is a symbol to the rest of the world that the Pinoys can do it. But a statue at this point? Maybe later and if he stays clear from politics and trapos... it just leaves a bad taste knowing that they're out to use him.

Money spent for the statue should go elsewhere that would benefit the less fortunate........

Rolando Navarette was a hero in the 80's and was WBC Super Featherweight champion like Barrera. He was also linked to gambling and women and so on. Decades later, we are sure that a statue for Lando is not worth it.

If Lito Atienza will be the one to have the statue built and to be placed in the city of Manila, then that will be the money of the people of Manila he is spending for his re-election (his son) gimmick.

I voted for it depends on the situation. I don't think Pac, at this point, has achieved enough for the country to have a statue the likes of those of Jose Rizal or Andres Bonifacio, however he has done enough to have one say maybe at the lobby of the Araneta Coliseum or some other stadium that features a lot of boxing events. I think the funds to build it should come from donations of fans and other boxing afficionados and not the national or local govcernment coffers. I think something like this would be appropriate.

They are free to built MP's statue as long as it is erected inside their toilet, no problem. Atienza's maybe worshipping MP since he is their only hope now

I do not believe that Atienza is really worshipping Manny, his actuations in public is only a gimmick... I think that Atienza is only interested in Manny because he is interested in getting Manny to run as the running mate of his son Ali, who will be running for Mayor. In other words, ginagamit lang niya si Manny para sa re-election.

The statue should have Tolits and Ali in both side waiving their hands and wearing same flower shirts.

it should be later, when he hangs his boxing gloves for good.

What is the motive behind all this is what bothers me. Knowing Atiensa there is something evil behind this.

saguisag spoke of delicadeza like he has one. the last time i checked, he
is still buddy-buddy with erap. he "was" one of my idols (marcos era) and
i hate to say this about him but unfortunately it is a fact, well, for those
who see erap as a bad guy anyway.
