American's are good at commentating. If it were a one-sided commentary I'd be put to sleep. The commentary on Barrera provides the viewer suspense if he can pull the impossible as he has done in the past and highlights what Barrera can bring to the game as opposed to Pacquiao. Lampley, Merchant and Steward bring a technical aspect to the game unlike the Pinoy group who give more emphasis on the emotional aspect of the sport. The worst commentary I heard was from the Philippine contingent of Pac-EM2, "kawawa naman si Erik Morales." - Wow, very informative d ba? This is why my preference is to hear a foreign commentator in Pacman fights since they are often unbiased. I also like to read foreign articles as they give good analysis and are keen observers of the fight. We should praise the critics because they often show us the deficiencies in the fighters. Remember those same critics pointed out the flaw and helped Manny improve to be a better fighter unlike before when all he had was the left straight.
I find it difficult to understand why some rabid Pinoy fans can't enjoy hearing the intangibles the opponent brings to the game. Just look at the recently concluded fight, you got to admit it wasn't as exciting as the Morales' trilogy. Why? Because we are almost certain of what will happen.
Some people make it sound like Manny's a god. Wrong guys, he's the devil who continues to be a thorn to Mexican boxers.
