man oh man oh man... first it was manny, though we all know he really won, now it's amir. 0-2 so far. freddie needs to change things up a bit. his philosophy "speed kills" apparently doesn't hold as true now as it used to be. his fighters need heavier hands. manny and amir are really speed fighters. their power relies so much on distance and momentum, which means in order to generate power they need to lunge in. if they don't lunge, all they have now are punch mitt punches. they need to be able to generate power from a standstill. i don't know but whatever workouts they did in 2009 they ought to get back to it coz manny doesn't have the same power and explosiveness that he had then and amir's punches have nothing behind them.

it's 1-2 chavez won last June.

problem with amir is that he's only got fast hands but he is in front of his opponents most of the time and he's got very poor defense.

And also one of Manny's sparring partner (forgot his name)...lost a bout just a few months ago.....yikes...it's a losing streak for the Wild Card fighters.

This year belongs to Robert Garcia. I think he will be this year's Coach of the Year awardee. :D

Truth be told, Roach has been overrated as a trainer. If you compare his body of accomplishments building fighters vis a vis that of Beristain's, his pales in comparison. Outside of Pac (and you can throw in Vasquez and Chavez Jr. whose carefully guided career will come crashing down on September), Roach hasn't built up a fighter to become world champion with multiple successful defenses. He's just plain lucky that Pac, who's one of a kind freak of nature, came knocking on his door.
