Chris John (48-0-2, 22), so far, remains undefeated, but I believe that's mainly because he has been relatively untested against the world's best fighters. Yes, he got the decision win against Juan Manuel Marquez, but I saw Marquez winning that fight, to be honest.

It's not that he hasn't fought quality fighters, because he has. But he simply has not fought the best fighters in his division.

If he really wants recognition as one of the bests of this generation, he should fight the likes of Orlando Salido, Mikey Garcia, Daniel Ponce De Leon, Juan Manuel Lopez, and Celestino Caballero.

Who overrated him? Fact that he is not included in the top 10 pound for pound list reflects his outsider status in the elite circle. This fighter is one win away in matching Rocky Marciano's wins and a few more to surpass Finito Lopez's. Chris John is not overrated, his low popularity speaks for itself.

If you check the featherweight ratings (http://ringtv.craveonline.com/ratings/featherweight), he is still ranked higher compared to fighters who, I believe, are better than him.

CJ happens to hold a belt for a long period of time. The only exposure he got in the US soil was when he defended it against Rocky Juarez twice.. :hat:

Yes, he has a belt, but the real issue is, he has not fought the best fighters of his division. Let him fight Mikey Garcia, Orlando Salido, and Juan Manuel Lopez. I doubt he gets a win against any of these names. Hence, I just feel his undefeated resume is overrated.

I think he is underrated, his name is rarely heard despite his accomplishment in boxing. :)
