Problem with Nonits is he was the favorite in all of his wins.
Guerrero was the underdog both times, I believe.

His being the favorite in all these fights points to the fact that he is more deserving of the FOTY award. He was expected to win and win he did, in dominant fashion.

sorry nonito, despite 4-0 impressive wins, i guess it would be Robert Guerrero
this will make guerrero more of a household name and the drumbeat of mayweather vs. guerrero on cinco de mayo will be louder
the ring magazine is owned by golden boy. guerrero is a gbp fighter. mayweather fights under gbp banner

p4p king vs. 2012 fighter of the year

expect another heartbreak dear pinoy fans who wish donaire to be the FOY :(

Ring Magazine will do whatever that advance its interest. This is to be expected because of its association with GBP and Oscar. If it does, eventually, in the case of the FOTY it simply confirms such expectation and accepts its fate of diminishing credibility in boxing. What is important here is the BWAA.

You are right with your speculation though.

Maybe but Guerrero on paper took more risks and had bigger wins.
Pac won the FOTY due to his upset wins.

The concept of "upset something" is subjective. Who did Pacquiao fought on the way to FOTY and upset him?

Who did Guerreo fight as an underdog? Berto? To some Berto is damaged goods. He got a beating in a previous fight. Also, he was caught using PEDs. He could be using it in a lot of previous fiights that when he stopped using he became naturally weak and slow. Guerrero is definitely a better fighter than Berto but less regarded because of poorer name recall.

I do not fault you though if you find Berto or the other guy more superior than Guerrero.

What Donaire did in 2012 was more appealing and exciting to the fans...and this helped boxing up a notch.
