Muhammad Ali remains the only three-time linealheavyweight champion, having won the title in 1964, 1974, and 1978. Between February 25 and September 19, 1964, Ali reigned as the undisputed heavyweight champion.

The first gold medal to be awarded at the Los Angeles Olympics was also the first-ever medal to be won by an athlete from China when Xu Haifeng won the 50 m Pistol event. Li Ning won also 6 medals in gymnastics, 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze, earning him the nickname "Prince of Gymnasts" in China.

It's not every day a 44-year-old coach comes off the bench and ends up playing goalie for his team in the Stanley Cup final, but that's just whatLester Patrick did for the Rangers back in 1928. Not only that, but he gave up only one goal, and the Rangers went on to defeat the Montreal Maroons in overtime.

Elorde finished only the 3rd grade of his elementary education and was forced to drop out due to extreme poverty. He then began to work as a bearer of bowling balls and, beside this, as a carpenter.

His love for boxing came from a friend, Lucio Laborte, a former professional boxer. Laborte taught him how to box, and Elorde quickly learned the sport and pursued his dream to become a boxer. At the time he was only 16 years old.

Elorde still holds the junior lightweight division record for longest title reign, and is considered as one of the greatest junior lightweight champion in history. It spanned for seven years, and in doing so he legitimized the division.

Francisco Guilledo, more commonly known as Pancho Villa, stood only 5 feet and 1 inch (154 cm) tall and never weighed more than 114 pounds (51 kg), despite the racial discrimination of that time, rose from obscurity to become the first Asian to win the World Flyweight Championship in 1923, earning the reputation in some quarters as one of the greatest Flyweight boxers in history.

Vila was never knocked out in his entire boxing career, which ended with his sudden death at only twenty-three from complications following a tooth extraction.
