He just wants to stay relevant.
Nobody is missing him and his boring fights.

I completely agree with JoeyInCali's view that Floyd just want to stay relevant.

But in fairness to Floyd, he is indeed gifted with some talents that make him a legend whether we like it or not.
Inside the ring, he is very smart to the point that he usually resort to dirty tactics against his opponent just to make sure that he will be out of danger. Look how he fought Pacquiao ... he did all sorts of dirty and unsportsmanlike tricks and he avoided an embarrassing defeat from Manny. Outside of the ring, he is a genius. Before he agreed to fight Manny, he made sure that he will get all pertinent information about Manny that's why he hired Alex Ariza who knows Manny Pacquiao in and out.
In terms of promoting his fights, he is brilliant. Look how the Pacquaio/Mayweather fight was packaged from the fight's conceptualization up to the very fight night. Everything seemed to have been carefully choreographed. Who in the right mind would believe that he and Manny accidentally met at an NBA basketball game which, according to social media had paved the way for the long-awaited fight against each other to happen?

Against that UFC guy, he did the same thing in term of promoting the fight to make it an "exciting" match .... and the UFC fans were fooled but not me.

However, we need Floyd and his antics to make boxing competitive against MMA which is now a very popular full contact sport. I feel annoyed by him at times but he is an excellent promoter ... a businessman. No wonder why he told Larry Merchant that he knew nothing about boxing.... actually he meant to say "Larry knew nothing about "business boxing".

How about Manny versus Floyd ll ? I believe that they have an unfinished business.

Well, it's really hard to be on Floyd's side even though he is far better than Pacsheet but almost all boxing orgs are corrupt, so if Floyd could pay them at the price they want just to get his wish, who are we?

LOLs

Good point by the REAL DEAL himself !
----------------

Holyfield: Mayweather Was Never Undisputed at Any Weight!
Former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield considers Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be a great fighter - but he also points out that the retired pound-for-pound king missed the boat by not making attempts to become an undisputed champion.

Mayweather won titles at super featherweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight and junior middleweight - but he was never the undisputed champion in any of the five divisions.

The closest Mayweather came to cleaning out all of the titles was in 2015, when he defeated Manny Pacquiao in a WBC, WBA, WBO welterweight title clash. After the fight, Mayweather refused to pay the WBO a sanctioning fee and he was stripped of the belt.
