Mikey Garcia’s pursuit of Errol Spence Jr. in a daunting, two-division jump from lightweight to welter is a welcome counter to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s business model. Mayweather mastered risk-to-reward like the ratio was a shoulder roll. He

I laughed at the last part of the article about fighting Pacquiao. They know Pacquiao even at this stage would still smoke Mikey, so his brother Robert said no. Mikey is slow and is not used to fighting at Welterweight. Robert knows Mikey will be biting more than he can chew if he fight Pacquiao right away. If Mikey loses to an old Pacquiao his stock would drop significantly. Now Spence is a hot name at present and a big money fight as well, even if Mikey loses they will just say its against one of the top dog at welterweight and Mikey coming up in weight, so its ok to lose that fight and his stock wont be affected that much especially if he displayed a good showing. But if he lose to an old Pacquiao, which highly likely he would, then he's back to the drawing board. 8)

Garcia will be another Khan or Brooke who was badly beaten by a bigger man. Spence might retire Garcia.

Well, it's up to him to fight anyone he wants, he might expose Spence

Mikey may get more muscles next few months, let's see what shape he will be in.

Pac would be more dollars and less risk than Spence.

I applaud Mikey’s braveness but so sad that he lacks brain and business acumen that Pacquiao and Mayweather have that made them famous and rich

I don't think legacy is what in Garcia's mind. In boxing money comes first before legacy. It is stupid for a boxer to put himself in danger while earning lesser money. I think Garcia is plain scared to fight Manny. His brother, Robert, had two fighters bulldozed by Pacquiao. Even at his age, Pacquiao is still hard to beat.

Its a win win for Mikey whatever happens if the Spence fight will really happen... Then another win win for him if he decide to fight Pacquiao later... He doesn't care about losing in the ring at this stage of his career but rather filling his bank book with huge amount after , of course, much of the locos and fanaticos bite and go crazy for his "bait".

Garcia could had seen something in Spence's style which makes the latter beatable.
I commend him for having the courage to jump up two divisions just to face the champ,
If Mikey faces a lesser known opponent, some fans & media will bash him as a plain moneymaker.
When Pacquiao agreed to fight De La Hoya, boxing world was scared for Pacman's health/life.
But he proved otherwise, pummeling ODLH in every round 'till Pretty Boy Oscar quit after the 8th round.
So, Garcia can repeat the impossible as proven by his earnest motivation to fight Spence.
Except for Brook & Peterson, Errol hasn't faced popular & excellent names in the welter division,
Therefore, let's anticipate that this fight materializes. I'll go for Garcia by decision.
Anyway, not even his father, trainer & family succeeded in stopping him to go for this encounter. :D

He may not care about losing but losing to Spence, especially if it is badly, will diminish his appeal and if I am Manny, and Mikey offering a fight after losing to Spence, I will fight him for less money that he should have receive if he fight Manny first.

This is gonna be a fight with spence having all the advantages, one of which is that the fight will not be fought at a catch weight. unlike the PAC vs Delahoya match wherein delahoya had to go down from junior middleweight to welterweight and pacquiao going up two weight divisions from lightweight to welterweight, Dela Hoya going light and pacquiao was bloated. But in this case, Garcia vs spence, Mikey will bloat himself up to the welterweight while spence will have no adjustments in his fighting weight. I think Garcia will register his first loss in the match.

I think he will be TKO'd in the middle round say 6-8 rounds. Mikey's brave but he got no brain and he will be a peril to himself.

Mikey should be applauded for his decision
Its not usual for a fighter to take biggest risk
