Donaire to fight Mathebula


Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire Jr. is set to fight International Boxing Federation super bantamweight Jeffrey Mathebula in a title unification bout on July 7 at the Home Depot Center in Carson City California.

Donaire (28-1 win-loss card with 18 knockouts) will put on the line his World Boxing Organization super bantamweight belt against the South African Mathebula (26-3-2 with 14 KOs) in a fight titled After Dark organized by Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotion.

“It’s a fight that Nonito asked for,” Donaire’s manager Cameron Dunkin told espn.com writer Dan Rafael Monday. “Top Rank was offering us other fighters, but he wanted a unification fight. Nonito thought this guy (Mathebula) was a great fighter and would push him to the limit.”..........

It so sad because I won't be watching the fight. I really like Donaire, but i hate boxing more. I'm quitting cold turkey.

7 days more to go for this fight... I'm so excited to see how Donaire will fight a much taller opponent for the first time.

I am hoping for a KO / TKO win for Donaire. :D

If Donaire get passed Mathebula he will be facing next WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Emeritus Nishioka later this year. :D
