I see a lot of similarities between Zonke Fana and Mathebula. Both are from South Africa. Both have earned titles along the way and at the same time, both are well protected by their handlers by keeping their fights in South Africa. They both face no quality opponents resulting in not so bad records. In short their records are both bloated up.

When Fana squared off against the great Marco Antonio Barerra he was expected to give Barerra a good fight based on his record and at the time he was considered having the best jab in his division but he got outjabbed by Barerra and we all know he got annihilated. He did not lived up to the expectations. But one cannot put the blame on Barerra for going up the ring against a patsy. He was bound to be stripped of his title if he refused to fight Fana.

The same thing is going to happen with Mathebula. Though his record is decent and he has an imposing height advantage over Donaire, he is going to be totally outclassed. But this fight is not going to end quickly. Donaire only go for the KO if he is facing a dangerous opponent. He's not going to be in any danger here against Mathebula. Mathebula lacks power in both hands. Donaire will let the fight go the distance.

Unlike in the case of Barerra/Fana fight which was ordered by the governing bodies. This is not a compulsary title defense for Donaire. Mathebula was cherrypicked by Donaire and by his handlers knowing people would think this fight is going to be an exciting one since Mathebula towers over Donaire.

Donaire is oozing with talents but wastes his talents against unworthy opponents. He avoids tangling with opponents who will give him a run for his money like Mayweather avoiding Pacman like a plague.

really? or its donaires opponents that are running away? darchinyan avoids the rematch. arce goes down to 118, arce changed his mind. narvaez and vazquez backpedalled and run the whole night. mares and rigondeaux are just using donaire to hype their names knowing that a fight with donaire will not happen yet because of bob arum. the truth is, theyre also afraid to face donaire. Nishioka will also change his mind after donaire brutalizes methabula on his presence later today.

How in the whole wide world of sports did you come to this conclusion? Don't you think it would be better for Donaire (bigger purse) that he stops his opponent rather than letting him go the distance? Just thinking, sensibly.
