elmer haya must get himself exposed to international tournaments to temper his nerve. in billiard's international scene, only the ones with better control of nerves will prevail. it is sad to see our player losing not because of lack of skills but because "dinaga" (nervous). i can still remember how roberto "the superman" gomez lost to darryl peach in their championship match in manila. the superman was performing superbly, downing top caliber players all the way to the championship match against the british player. when their game reached near the final stage, "dinaga" si superman and committed mistakes, and that was it. even a single mistake can turn the outcome of the game, how much more when one commits several blunders.

to our local players, specially the up and coming ones, learn to master your nerve first before committing yourselves to mastering billiards. do daily physical exercise and learn to relax your breathing. you can do it, with just a daily exercise.

Exercise won't help you there. It's more mental than physical.
Efren lost several finals ( including world 9-ball in the US against Strickland ) before he won his US Open in '94.
Efren lost in the FINALS of the US Open 3 times in a row after that.
Then he won the world 9 in 1999.

Haya is inexperienced in world tournaments and the pressure got the best of him. He is one year wiser and a lot more experienced now after this year's world 9.

that is why i'm saying that haya has a to expose himself to international tournaments to gain more experience and get accustomed with the pressure. and while doing that, it is best that he too must be on top of his physical health by doing some daily exercise to relax his body. many of our players may not be aware that running really helps a lot to lessen the tense in our body.

Hayaan muna natin si Haya. He was too excited to be in the semifinals of a big tournament. Reaching the semis as the best placed pinoy in the tournament was a great achievement for him already.

i'm not sure if haya can join more tourneys world wide coz as ive said before from what i've read he is an OFW there in the mid east. I think he was able to join because he was near to the venue.

I wonder where is Marlon Manalo now. He won a lot of tournaments and had a potential to be a great pool player 4 to 5 years ago. Sayang ang galling nya.

This is the reason why Europeans are winning a lot of the tournaments lately. Their Euro tour really help steady their nerves in big tournaments because they get seasoned over there playing tournaments.

I really wish the big financers in Philippine pool stage more national tournaments like they did in the past.

This is always a reason everytime our athlete loses in any kind of sports that phil govt is fucvkin corrupt,no pondo etc etc...immune na tayo sa ganitong reason so tama na and don't expect too much everytime a sports event like this.

Well pool in the Philippines has never relied on government help.

Even the Euro tour is a private venture.

It has always been the private sector who has been shelling out for the pool scene. Its just that a lot of the big names of pool today no longer get involved as much.
